Studying physical education teaching

Studying physical education teaching will help prepare you for a career in education, physical activity, health and sport by developing your understanding of physical education and school sport. You’ll learn theory and gain practical experience using specialist sports facilities and learning about areas like games, athletics, aquatics, outdoor activity, health and fitness. Your degree is likely to draw on academic fields like sports science, sociology, psychology and philosophy, as you develop the skills and knowledge to work as an educator and cover topics like physical education, health, sports development and youth sport. You may also have the chance to gain work experience through placements at educational facilities like schools, sports clubs and youth centres.
