We had a fantastic Canadian lecturer who is very knowledgeable in special education, and really engaged the whole class in discussion. The research supervisor was fantastic and was relatable working within further education and gave brilliant guidance during the final year. Our other lecturer was a bit hit and miss. Legally ,we shouldve had 20 hours of contact a week and only got 4 1/2 a week, certainly not worth the full whack of fees. During the final year, the research unit was poorly delivered and did not offer anything practical to help us with data analysis, coding , transcription of interviews, working out coefficients in action research. This is something that should not have been disregarded. There were no practical sessions or log book of hours usually part of teacher training esp when applying for EHC assessments EHC plans and accessing funding. This hasn't really taught any of us additional employability skills to work in our sector . Inclusion isnt great and were witness to one incident towards a peer where she was reprimanded for attending lesson, driving 60 mile round trip to attend lesson was exhausted and found it hard to focus in lesson. it later transpired they had been diagnosed with long covid . There was a lack of compassion towards their effort to attend and not miss a session.
only 4 hours contact per week as opposed to the advertised 20 hrs ! top whack fees which should only be charged at 6.5 k not 9.2 k . 4 hrs is not full time. very little practical skills in research will left me feeling ill equipped for a research position at another uni.
lack of male teachers is a massive problem, public transport NA work opportunities were not awarded for this course, in comparison to all teaching and education which do offer placements. Employment after is the sector and position needed is not paid at the full advertising wage PA , where questions on wage around it being pro-rata were avoided by most employers in this field. If it is advertised at 26.350 starting rate they need to pay it regardless as all education staff work during school holidays , pay for resources theirselves and are not given a lunch or travel expenses paid or discounted. Most of us had to take a second job to make up for the wage falsely advertised. Something I believe shouldve been forwarned about and how to negotiate the terms of contract and payscale
Best was the conference on SEND and 2 tutors , one from Canada and the other at an FE college. Worst: The other tutor was not compassionate towards myself, recovering from long covid, I fell asleep in one lesson. Out of all lessons I attended from Sept to June, and they insisted what I did was bad behaviour, despite a formal diagnosis after my 4th bout of COVID-19, an apology and reassurance that falling asleep wasn't a reflection upon their teaching or course content, I was struggling with extreme fatigue and heart issues. I've worked in education 12 years and 7 years in healthcare. A student falling asleep or having behaviour out of character is a safeguarding concern , not a disciplinary matter. No apology was given over their conduct towards me, as they felt it was necessary to subject me to such behaviour , as there had been complaints made by other students about this lecturers conduct. As a mature student and a parent of a disabled child, I expected more understanding and compassion from a uni that states they are inclusive .
Course content wasn't much different from the foundation degree and varied knowledge base between tutors. Some were advanced in their knowledge and possible reflection on their expereinces in canadian education systems - which was enlightening, Others felt tedious and rushed, and not based in any practical sessions either such as assessment frameworks and SEND funding. Actual tutor contact was 4 hours a week, not 20 and for the 9250 a year fee's it's not doing the knowledge base of any lecturer or students justice. The next generation of children deserve high quality education, and this will only perpetuate the low quality currently seen in the UK
Totally dissatisfied especially with the student support never offered or advised me properly regarding to maintenance loan they kept saying that I am not entitled to. They sanctioned me from studies because I own two month rent to an accommodation with inappropriate situations and permanently closed. I have paid almost 18000 for the course i was studying and received nil support. I have sent them couple of emails asking them to transfer my credits to an other University however they are keep ignoring my emails. Unacceptable, unprofessional service who do not care their students welfare.
Apart from the unprofessional service, I had an excellent tutor who always provided support for his students. however the room was smelling and sometimes was uncomfortable.
It is a great place to study because of the environment and it feels like a second home and it couldn’t be improved in any way
The best aspect of the course is that it is easy to grasp and I like physically attending instead of having lectures online

I love my university and it surely is a great place to study because of the diversity of students, the student life at uni is amazing and it offers help to students regarding any matter, the lectures are well presented and we are always prepared for the assignments, as it is my last year I’ll miss my university and the time I’ve spent at Bedfordshire
The course I’ve chosen isn’t that easy but surely is interesting and insightful, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge on marketing and different aspects of it
The campus living accommodation is a great accommodation for Bedfordshire students as it is a 2 minute walk from the halls to the University, it has 24/7 security around the building and you feel very safe. The property is well managed and the staff is also very friendly, the room allocated to me was clean and well presented, the only downside to the halls is the cost. But overall it is a great accommodation
At Bedfordshire we have a vibrant and cosmopolitan student population that includes around 20,000 students from over 100 countries. We are a modern university that believes in nurturing our students to become educated, employable and entrepreneurial global citizens.
