Floristry is the art of designing and creating floral arrangements for a wide variety of occasions. While studying floristry, students will likely cover topics such as floral design techniques, plant biology, colour theory, and event planning. Although it is quite a specialised degree to study, there are many career applications in addition to florist which graduates may wish to pursue. These can include event decorator, floral shop owner, exhibition designer or teaching the craft itself. Postgraduate study can focus on areas which apply to the career of florist, such as sustainability or business management.
