Study osteopathy at uni to gain the knowledge, skills and experience you need to become a qualified osteopath in the UK. Osteopaths mainly identify and treat various health issues through exercises, therapy and rehabilitation techniques. Osteopathy courses usually cover numerous scientific fields, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, psychology and pharmacology, as well as help you develop clinical examination techniques through learning theory and gaining practical experience. During the course, you’re likely to engage in clinical and observational placements and work with actual patients, in order to put your theoretical knowledge into practice. Once graduated, it’s fairly common to go into further study at postgraduate level, especially if you want to specialise. If you’d rather go straight into work, however, you can apply to the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) to register as an osteopath and begin professional practice.
