Botany is a natural science degree subject which focuses on plant life and biology. Studying botany at uni will give you the skills and knowledge to understand plant life and horticulture, including learning about plants’ reproduction systems, metabolism, diseases, evolution and growth. You may also learn about how we can use plants to access valuable natural resources, like fuels and food, as well as doing modules on areas like an introduction to plant science, environmental science, scientific research and plant physiology. Unsurprisingly, many botany graduates go on to work in nature-focused jobs in fields like ecology, horticulture, food security, biofuel development, farming and environmental research.
