Child psychology degrees focus on teaching students about the behaviour and development of children and adolescents, looking at the conscious and subconscious development of young people both biologically and psychologically. Your degree is likely to involve academic fields like psychology, sociology, education, health and welfare, covering topics like child mental health and wellbeing, learning difficulties, communicating with children and child behaviours. Many child psychology degrees also involve a practical element, giving students relevant work experience in the field. Graduates will be set up to work in jobs that help young people’s learning, development and wellbeing in roles like primary school teacher, family support worker, social worker, counsellor and therapist.
