The study of herbal medicine will give you a detailed education and training in clinical herbalism. You’ll learn how to work with people to improve their health, spirituality and mental wellbeing, as you get to grips with the ‘energetic’ understanding of the cause of illness and how medicinal plants can help in a therapeutic way. You’ll learn about different medicines and how they’re developing and could look at drugs that can be created from plants through chemistry and pharmacology. You may get the chance to do a work-based placement year as part of your course, as well as gain practical experience in medical clinics. As a graduate, you’ll hopefully be competent and confident as a practitioner of clinical herbalism and possible career paths you could consider include teaching and training, research, homeopathy, aromatherapy, massage and osteopathy.
