Teaching degrees are designed to turn students into educators and inspirers, by exploring the world of teaching and education. Observational learning and practical experiences will help you see how theory and knowledge are put into practice and placements will give you hands-on experience. During the course, you’ll gain a wide understanding of the UK’s educational systems and practices in various establishments, like mainstream and special needs schools, as well as other settings like prisons. You’ll get an overview of the current issues facing educational systems around the world and learn how these can relate to teaching and education in the UK, as well as explore social influences on learning and possible barriers. Many graduates go on to become teachers, but other career options could include curriculum designer, education officer and social worker.
