Studying manufacturing engineering

Similar to mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering focuses on the design, development and operation of machinery. What sets manufacturing engineering apart from other branches of engineering is the focus on manufacturing technology – on this degree you’ll be learning about systems of production. These could include systems of computers, robots, material handling equipment and machine tools. After graduating, you could opt to study a further master’s degree in engineering or go straight into working. The most common role for graduates is manufacturing engineer, but you could work in related engineering fields as well, and you could choose to specialise in design, development, installation or operation.
