Studying performing arts at uni could incorporate several arts disciplines, including acting, dance, singing, theatre and contemporary music. There’s likely to be a big focus on performance but you may also cover things like the theory and history of different performing arts, how to analyse and critique performance, set design, production, marketing and management. Some courses will allow you to tailor your degree to your main passion, such as theatre performance, while others will provide a broad offering, often with access to specialist facilities and equipment and the chance to collaborate with industry professionals. Graduates have the opportunity to create a career in the arts, whether it’s as an actor, producer, dancer, technician, teacher, or one of the other many career opportunities available.
