The university is located in a very vivid area where you could find different stores and shops that is suitable to access… The university staff are lovely, supportive and knowledgeable each one of them knows how to make improvement and they’re more than happy to change…
It’s an intense course but it’s rewarding and interesting to learn.. you get to know yourself before knowing the course… for example the challenges that you’ll be facing and what you’ll be dealing with as well as how you’ll overcome it! It’s a great opportunity to get to know yourself and your strengths and what are you capable of achieving!
The campus i study in is small which i like and the lecturers are supportive. However the skills session where we do practical could be better. Also when we are in placement the placement team of uni isn't the greatest at replying to emails so they could improve.
its good
Uxbridge feels like an office block. No student life really. Not really the 'student' experiance I was hoping for
Most lecturers have been fab some less so. No tutor time provided really in my experience. Placements don't tell you where you are going till 2 weeks before so you don't get time to prep
The student's union supports students 3 times a week with free meals to help reduce our costs within the cost of living crisis. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, making it comfortable for everyone. BNU is a good uni, the only downside most students may agree on is the that nightlife is lacking, which is out of the control of the uni, but still the students have a great time regardless, making the most of what we have.
The facilities are amazing and easily grasped, furthermore, the lecturers are extremely helpful with support me in my studies, currently there are no downsides to the course.
Living in halls is a great way to connect with students and make friends at the start of the academic year, they are regularly cleaned and maintained, and is overall a nice place to stay. However, the only negative is that it quite a walk from the town centre and the uni, so getting around is long, however very simple and easy still.
I have enjoyed studying at Buckinghamshire New University. My peers have been very supportive and friendly. The staff are helpful when needed. The student union is also helpful, I have learnt a lot. They are very rigorous as well as fun in their teaching style at my campus. There is a huge focus on independent learning along with materials provided online, use it to your advantage! I would say to manage time well and ask for support when needed the university will help. The library staff are very helpful. The facilities are great for my course, Adult Nursing. I would say the only thing the university could do better is have more communication between campuses, even though there are free link buses, they do not feel socially connected in my experience
We have had mainly in person classes and there have been some online workshops or support meetings where necessary. Largely they have been very useful and have aided well in my studies. I have been able to complete my first year placement, the staff as well as student were new to using epad for my course so we were both learning together and the university staff were supportive. Placement wise, the university gave placements that have been a great learning opportunity for me. I learned a great deal, that will definitely help me in my career as an Adult Nurse. The things I learned at university alongside what I learnt in placement made feel more competent in myself. I would say what could be improved is contact with your tutor. I am unsure for other cohorts but I know for my cohort we had difficulty getting in contact with our tutor as they had left. However, the other staff and head of nursing were super helpful to all our queries.
Best aspects are by far the societies and the student union. Its very easily accessible and always makes you feel welcome. I've never left the student union feeling like my problem has not been resolved. Regarding the worst aspects I would say it is the accommodations. The bedrooms and communal areas (e.g. kitchens and corridoors) do not feel homely at all (an example of this is the color of the doors in Hughenden flats).
Best aspects are the fact we have student reps on our course so we can always feedback to our lecturers about any issues or things we aren't happy with. Worst aspects of our course is that I sometimes feel like we won't be given any guidance on what to do in regards to our career after graduation.
Most liked - The fact that you can select if you want a quiet flat or not (and also request to live with your friends). Least liked - The flats are not homely at all. The kitchen and communal areas are very clinical and it doesn't feel cosy and homely.
Being at BNU, has been really great experience, as I a studying Aviation Management. Before starting university, I had some industry experience working at London Gatwick Airport as a Check In Agent. Having a degree in aviation is so much more important because it can give me the opportunity to choose your specialism for your future career after your experience of the core curriculum in year one. Rather than having to make your big career decision before you join us, we introduce you to various specialisms and offer you the flexibility to choose the pathway which leads to your chosen career. I was able to learn different modules pertaining to areas such as airport operations, safety and security, and now it would get much deeper and in depth into areas such as airline management, investigating a crisis event that has taken place. Now, I serve as a student ambassador for the university representing my course.
More one on one time to do the assignments, more guidance and the proper layout of completing assignments, giving examples of what were the wrong things that student did to their assignments.
High Wycombe is not the most nicest town in the Chiltren area, but the university is much more nicer on the inside.
Love that it is outside of town, it is much more quieter and etc. There is a well being team that deals serves coffee and tea every Thursday from 1900-2100.
The best thing about the university for me is access to the best audio equipment, which is regularly upgraded. The thing that bothers me a bit is the costs (e.g. of transportation) associated with participating in sports communities that are advertised as completely free.
The worst thing for me is the marking period. Often, after receiving a feedback, there is no time to meet and discuss the work with the lecturer, so I often don't know what was wrong and what exactly I should improve in the future. What I like most is that lecturers are willing to help not only with their own modules' assignments, but also with other projects, including students' own works.
The town is small and quiet, however there are also a lot of great places to spend free time. The worst aspect of living here for me is the weak transport connection between the town and airports.
NICE MANAGEMENT, A GOOD CAFETERIA. ALSO, THERE IS ALWAYS STUDENT SUPPORT ON THE SITE.
GOOD TEACHING TEAM. GOOD SUPPORT. GRADES COULD BE BETTER!
Buckinghamshire is the best university to study because of it’s resources and support offered for students. More job opportunities.
My course are taught in class. Course hours are ok and lecturers are brilliant and very supportive.
