The general location of the university is good as it gives plenty of opportunity for employment, being known as the city of students. Overall the University offers many educational opportunities and lecturers go out of their way to help students
Overall, the lecturers are great, they're kind and supportive of students and are always willing to extend a helping hand. The course itself on the other hand could definitely be improved. As someone who has studied digital art for a while, the first year was purely focused on exploring industry standard software, which I and other students were already familiar with. In order to improve the course, I believe there should be categories within specialisms to separate students into how confident and how much they know within industry. As all students, those who haven't done game art & design before, are placed with students who already have intermediate experience within this course be it self taught, or already having work experience in the field. Which means majority of students are held back by others.
The halls themselves weren't very sturdy. We had a hurricane which caused all floors to flood from the kitchen windows, some of my colleagues room's were flooded and had to be relocated to other flats. The rooms themselves, in terms of size and layout, were quite nice and allowed enough space for the room to not feel crowded.
A great institution and city to study in with plenty to do for students. All of the campus is located right in the heart of the city with lots of student accommodation nearby, and the city itself is very student friendly to live in.
The course offers a good overall experience, with a lot of support for students. The university had some issues with lecturers leaving and an experience that was entirely online during lockdown that didn't feel worth the tuition fees, but overall has provided a lot of education and opportunities for employment and experience within the industry. All of the professional industry standard software you would need is freely available for students, with plenty of computer labs available all the time during the week and weekend.
A solid choice to live in being located very close to the city centre and a large supermarket over the road. The flatmate experience will always be hit and miss with any accommodation, but the overall experience was okay. Currently the price for what you get is dwarfed by Crown's Place opposite which provides a much nicer building, view, and facilities/amenities for a very small amount more.
Postive: Really good quality tutoring with interesting subject matter and practical/theorrtical work Negative: Student Mental health is looked after by individual tutors but found the overall service difficult to deal with, in my own experience such as unhelpful (slight rude) and long waits to here back on minor issues I require help with.
Postive: The course is overall really good quality with supportive and quality tutors who have worked in the industry. Negative: Wish there was more rooms & equipment for practical activities
Great place to study, Great facilities and Able to gain knowledge and independence.
Good amount of hours and knowledge tutors sometimes hard to understand what you actually meant to be doing each week but apart from that great.
Frirst year to move in, Great location, however, some of the office staff and night can be a bit mean and unhelpful but the accom itself is great.
I love the lessons but not the strikes
I love the creative side but not the writing an essay
It has a very comfortable atmosphere
The tutors are very easy to talk to
