Its good for having access to a world class library and tutors. Being disabled I suggested 3 years ago they have a room in the library for disabled students to be able to book that had a range of study aids in it such as a rising desk, and other aids that would be helpful. It hasn't happened, so I rarely study in the library and I would have liked to.
Its quite lonely studying for a PhD, fortunately for me I made friends and we started an online study group, which has been a lifeline for me. I am not sure I would still be a student without it.
I am an international student. Studying in this university has exposed me to different cultures and different ways of learning. In every class here, the teachers attach great importance to the combination of practical content, but also attach great importance to arouse our students' thinking, and the whole class has a very equal communication atmosphere. The library of the university is also well equipped with various books and electronic equipment. I really like my university - University of Huddersfield! I love it! However, in my opinion, the role of college students association has been weakened. I hope I can feel more help from the student union, as well as some opportunities and platforms provided, which I think are somewhat inadequate in the university.
My courses mainly focus on offline learning, so that we can communicate with tutors face to face and better understand each other's ideas. The course schedule is also reasonable. It allows us to reflect on something before we move on to the next class. However, the learning of some courses is more theoretical, and there is no module for us to practice in class. I really hope to add some extracurricular practice content to each course. This is where I think there are some deficiencies in the university.
My university is located near the centre of Huddersfield, a small town. From the nearby York, Manchester and other cities are relatively close, the traffic is very convenient. Because the university is located in a small town, the overall cost of living is relatively low. Friendly to poor international students like me. But it's also because the university is in a small town. The overall part-time job opportunities are not many, which also makes me lack some of my own sources of income, making my life very poor
I live in a student house near my school. This student apartment is very close to the business school where I work, and the distance to go to class is very short and the time is very little. I reported some problems with the Windows in my room before, and the property management staff also responded to my feedback very quickly, so that my problems were solved. However, the Internet speed in the apartment is a little slow, and it is a waste of time to check the literature and other related content. This is where I think the apartment needs an upgrade.
Lecturers are very approachable and easy to talk to about things
Learning is very practical
Good value, not great location
I think the uni has a good overall feel to it.
The teachers have all had experience in the field of study and so they are all able to relate the content to the real world. There is a great variety in the content and it is very helpful at getting you to know what you want to do and even swapping courses
Lovely location
I think overall the uni is a nice place to study and spend time in outside of lecture hours
Insanely good performance by the tutors/lectures. Has made it interesting and engaging
It's okay but have had some issues with cleanliness
A welcoming and inviting campus that is home to some of the most brilliant researchers our country has. An active students union that presents all students with great opportunities to socialise and or learn something new
A fully in-class course that easily adapts to online learning when needed (e.g train strikes) with sufficient contact hours
Amazing value rooms for students. Super fast Internet speeds and a team truly cares about the quality of your stay with them
For me, one of the best aspects about studying here is that I feel as if I am still getting the full uni experience despite still living at home. My course is really interesting and I feel supported by most of the staff. The societies I have joined are also really interesting and friendly.
The majority of my teachers deliver really good lectures and seminars, however some of them are not engaging. I often find my personal tutor meetings and the workshops to not be as helpful as they are advertised to be.
Facilities are really good, lecturers know their subject in detail and are willing to help struggling students, difficulty commuting for students using public transport, not much support for student carers, lack of parking for students, SU are really helpful always ready to talk to students and staff, overall really good just little things could be improved
Could have option to add online attendance for student who struggle with being in person, either commuting, disability etc Mentioned before but lecturers know subject in detail and are willing to help out for anyone struggling, very friendly too Placements are good but more notice before 2nd year could be given so to prepare earlier ready for interviews etc
Its a nice place to be with all the support and resources needed
I think more physical lectures will enhance student experience
Only apart from it being far away its perfect place to be
