The campus is in the vibrant town of Huddersfield, in the heart of beautiful Yorkshire. The town is welcoming and student-friendly, offering a relatively low cost of living for a city of its size.
The University of Huddersfield offers a wide range of undergraduate degrees, top-up degrees and degree apprenticeship courses through its six academic faculties. Many courses offer both full-time and part-time study options, allowing students to study around their other commitments. Some courses also offer both September and January start dates.
In all courses, students will be encouraged to become critical thinkers and push themselves to achieve an advanced understanding of their chosen subject. Courses have also been designed to ensure students develop the practical skills needed for a real working environment.

GET PROSPECTUSEntry requirements vary from course to course though there are some minimum entry requirements. For most courses, a variety of Level 3 qualifications are accepted, including A-Levels, BTEC Diplomas, Access to Higher Education Diplomas, and Baccalaureate programmes. Students with a mix of these qualifications are also accepted (provided they meet a specified UCAS Tariff points score).
Here are some examples of entry requirements:
For those looking to study biomedicine, 112 UCAS tariff points are required. This equates to BBC at A-Level, but one of those B grades must be in a relevant science subject. Alternatively, a DMM in the Applied Science BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is also accepted if it is accompanied by a science A-Level at grade C or above.
For those wanting to study music, a minimum of 120 UCAS points will need to be attained, including a B at A-Level (or equivalent) in music or music technology. Points from practical and theory music grades will also be accepted.
For those wishing to study Law 128 UCAS tariff points are required, which is ABB at A-Level or DDM in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.
For some courses, including art and design, drama, and some science-based courses, students may be required to attend an interview, an audition, or submit a portfolio of their work.

ASK A QUESTIONStorthes Hall Park, managed by DIGS, is the University of Huddersfield’s only recommended and approved student accommodation site and offers a guaranteed room to first year students. It was recently voted Best Value in the 2021 National Student Housing Survey. All rooms are ensuite and the living spaces are shared between 5-8 students depending on room type.
It is set in beautiful countryside surroundings just a 15-minute free shuttle bus ride away from the university, providing the perfect balance between home life and study.
The on-site entertainment complex, Venue, is at the heart of student life and features a bar and restaurant, 9-hole mini golf course, gaming room, study room, dining igloos, and much more. Other on-site facilities include a free indoor and outdoor gym, shop, car park, and laundrette.
There is a 24/7 on-site team to ensure student safety and wellbeing. Rooms start from £87 per week including bills, up to 100mb Internet, and contents insurance. There is an events programme to give students the opportunity to meet new friends and make memories, which includes party nights, skills workshops, five-a-side football and trips across the UK to places like Alton Towers and the Lake District.

The University of Huddersfield has a number of services available for students seeking additional support academically or personally during their time at university.
All students have access to personal Academic Skills Tutors who are on hand to help students settle into their course, as well as give advice about academic writing and preparing for exams.
For students who are struggling with settling into university life or are suffering with physical or mental health issues, the Wellbeing Services team are on hand. They offer friendly, unbiased, and completely confidential one-to-one support which includes short-term counselling, if required. They also run wellbeing workshops and support groups, along with the provision of online resources.
There is dedicated support for disabled students and those with long-term medical conditions. The Disability Services team can coordinate specialist equipment or dispensations in exams, help students access additional financial support, and generally ensure nothing stops students from getting the most out of university life.
This support is available both online and in-person.

The Students’ Union (SU) is a non-profit, independent organisation. It is led by five elected student officers, managing several teams whose job it is to look after the interests and wellbeing of students and provide a wealth of activities and events to make students’ time at Huddersfield great.
The SUs academic representatives listen to students’ needs and liaise with the university to resolve one-off issues and enact bigger changes within courses that students want to see.
The activities team manage the university’s sports clubs and student societies. They assist students with setting up and running new clubs and societies and help widen participation within them.
The advice centre team offer friendly, helpful, and confidential advice on academic and wellbeing matters, while the HudLets team help students with finding good-quality accommodation.
The events team make sure there are always fun social events and activities happening on campus. From campaigning events to club nights and gigs, there is something for everyone to join in with.
Getting involved in one of the many clubs and societies available at the University of Huddersfield is a great way for students to meet new friends, learn new skills, and even enhance future job prospects. There are currently over 160 clubs and societies running on campus, covering sports, academic subjects, cultural networks and general interests.
Sports clubs are open to students of all abilities and focus on building skills whilst having fun. Clubs include American football, cheerleading, cricket, football (men’s and women’s), swimming, and volleyball. Some of the university’s sports teams compete in BUCS competitions against teams from other universities. All sports clubs run social events in addition to practice sessions.
Academic societies include art, fashion, law, midwifery, politics, and science, whereas interest-led groups include allotment and gardening, Disney, enterprise, Harry Potter, self-defence, and mental health.

Huddersfield is a friendly and welcoming town in the north of England, known for its striking Victorian architecture and surrounding beautiful countryside. The town has a large student population, and it’s easy to see why – it has a lot to offer students, from buzzing nightlife to the breath-taking scenery, and plenty of events taking place.
Huddersfield boasts an impressive array of shops, from high street favourites in the Kingsgate Shopping Centre to independent and vintage boutiques.
The town is also rich in history and culture. There are many festivals held throughout the year, covering literature, music and food, as well as an annual summer carnival and a winter festival.
Huddersfield is known for its great nightlife. Students will find plenty of restaurants, contemporary bars, traditional pubs, and live music venues in the town centre. Students also flock to the official students’ union venues, Zetland and Wasted Space. BOOK OPEN DAYWork experience is an integral part of degree courses at Huddersfield, and the university is one of the UK’s leading higher education organisations for providing placements. All undergraduates studying courses that last more than 12 months can undertake a professional work experience position during their studies, and the university’s industry connections ensure that these placements are with some of the world’s leading employers including HSBC, Universal Music, KPMG, Red Bull F1, and Vivienne Westwood. Students are also supported in securing an international placement if this is their ambition.
As well as work experience opportunities, all students study for the Global Professional Award, which is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (Level 5), alongside their degree. The award helps students develop valuable skills that employers want and gives students another qualification to add to their CV.
The university’s Careers and Employability Service team are qualified careers advisors who offer guidance, information, and support on a range of topics such as CV writing, assessment centre techniques, and interview preparation. They also help students to find part-time work, experience placements, and graduate jobs.
Students who aspire to run their own business can find support from the Enterprise Team. The team have business experience and offer one-to-one guidance, workshops, and access to start-up funds to help a student turn their ideas into a successful business.
The university offers a range of scholarships and bursaries, including:
University of Huddersfield Scholarship Programme: 1,000 scholarships, worth £1,000, are awarded to new, full-time undergraduate students who have achieved 120 UCAS points or more and have a family income of less than £25,000 per year. Up to 80 of these scholarships will also be awarded to students on Science and Engineering Foundation years (using the family income criteria only). The scholarship is awarded to students in their first year of study.
Care Leavers Bursary: A bursary of £2,000 is available for eligible students who have spent time living in care. It is paid in instalments throughout the course.
Instrumental and Vocal Scholarships: £500 is awarded to qualified students who agree to play their instrument in the university’s ensemble. It is paid in two instalments in the first year of study.
Leeds Cathedral Music Scholarships: A variety of scholarships, worth up to £1,500 per year, are awarded from Leeds Cathedral, covering choir, conducting, and organ playing.
Leeds Minster Choral Scholarships: Scholarships of up to £1,500 are on offer from Leeds Minster for all choral students who are part of the Leeds Minster choir.
Huddersfield Parish Church Choral Bursaries: Eight bursaries are on offer to students in the Parish Church choir.
Huddersfield Choral Society Scholarships: Scholarships are offered to students interested in preparing for and participating in concerts with the Society.
The University of Huddersfield charges different fees based on the course studied and whether a student is from the UK or is an international student. Tuition fees are fixed for the duration of a course. What a student pays in the first year of study will be what they pay in subsequent years with no annual increase, provided they don’t take a break from study. The current fees charged (2022) are as follows:
Undergraduate degree (BA, BSc, BEng, BMus, LLB) and CertEd course fees for full-time UK students: £9,250
Placement year fees for full-time UK students: £1,000
Undergraduate degree (BA, BSc, BEng, BMus, LLB) course fees for part-time UK students: £995 per 20-credit module or £1492.40 per 30-credit module
CertEd course fees for part-time UK students: £3,745
International Students per Year: Fees range from £15,000 to £20,000
Eligible full-time and part-time students can apply for a tuition fee loan to cover their university fees and a maintenance loan to cover living expenses.

With a degree in a subject you love, you'll find more doors opening to jobs you'll love. Studies have also shown that graduates earn more on average compared to non-graduates.
If you want to continue to pursue education, you'll be able to progress to postgraduate study once you've got your undergraduate degree. You could opt to study a master's, or even get a PhD.
Living in uni halls means you'll have access to communal areas including kitchen and dining facilities. These facilities offer you plenty of opportunity to socialise with the students you're living with.
