University of Gloucestershire is good
Good
There is great support for international students from the student union, student achievement team, help zone, and career studio. The international cafe also organizes events at different universities so that everyone can get to know each other and help everyone out if someone is struggling. Lecturers are also so supportive and helpful. The career studio was helpful in providing me with ways to improve my CV. I wish there were a lot of jobs available for students on campus.
The course is taught in-class which helps to interact with everyone in person. The lecturers are extremely helpful in clearing doubts and providing guidance. There is always activities and practice questions. Sometimes they tend to teach fast but if we have doubts we can always meet or email our lecturers and clear any questions we have. We are also provided with a personal tutor which is great.
The halls are close to my campus which is within walking distance. All my flat mates are international students and getting to know them and where they are from has been amazing. I even have a flat mate studying my same course and we have become great friends. The kitchen has a toaster, oven, microwave, and lots of fridges which is great. However, the heater doesn't always work. The laundry is a bit expensive. Sometimes the kitchen is way too crowded when flat mates from other sections of the building get together and hang out in the kitchen for hours making it hard to cook.
Great Location and lots of opportunities
Great facilities and encouraged to take opportunities
Long way to travel to campus
It has a nice feeling to study in . The lecturers are really nice and they share their real world experience. Lectures are interesting. I really like the modules. The lecturers help when you are struggling It could be improved by doing more field trips to relate our studies to the real world.
It’s taught in person in small classes so the lecturers get to know you and can help you better. We have an average of 12 hours contact time a week and double that in independent work.
We have large bedrooms and large kitchens with enough appliances. We have 9 people in our flat and which is a nice number to have. We have weekly checkups from our flat supervisor which makes me feel looked after We have security 24/7 We have night buses that go to town and to our Accomidation to make sure we are safe coming home Maintenance is really helpful as every time we have an issue they fix it within a couple of days It would be better if we could have a lift in our flat.
The student Union is perfect for both working on assignments or seminar preparation as well as relaxing with friends. It is perfect for breaks as you can enjoy your lunch and relax. The campus is easy to access and its facilities are fit to any students requirements. The library has a broad variety of textbooks to assist your learning as well as helpful staff who will help you find what your looking for.
The lectures overall are very supportive and provide good learning material to assist with the assignments. But I feel like I dont see my lecturers as much as I did on the first year and as we have more modules to study for I personally think we should see them more. The general flow of the lecturers is perfect however.
It has a friendly environment and welcoming behavior for international students
Course is ideally designed which fulfill the needs of current days business planning and management.Course should be blend of online and in class learning. As a post graduate international student we are engaged in many affairs e.g sorting accomodations, transport goods and services.
University of Gloucestershire is ideally located in the city..
University of Gloucestershire is very comfortable and supportive for international student.
Course should be blend of both online and in campus
I like my university location it is close to city center best for students coming from other cities.
The diversity of student cohort The location is close to amenities Parking could be better for those who commute A singing group and more society variety would be great
The blended learning is the best The anatomy course which is shared with other courses could be better
Great area, lots to do and see. Relatively small campus however.
Would like to be able to meet tutors more regularly and for a longer period of time
Only 20 minute walk to campus so not awful - heating and water broke for 2 weeks and we’re not given compensation, definitely not worth the money
The library staff are phenomenal, our subject librarian helps with any referencing issues and finds ways to give you books or articles that can’t be accessed. The Francis Close campus has a homey, comforting feel. Making going to uni even more exciting. If you have any issues academic, professional or personal the helpzone with signpost you to the right people and you will be reassured and given advice and guidance. The student union however, are not the best at engaging with students in higher years. The sole focus is first years. And the student union presence is focused at oxtalls and park campus.
The lecturers offer 1-1 tutorials for essays and lectures you need help with. This is really beneficial for essay writing as they give advice and guidance on topics and research. Your dissertation tutor has regular meetings with you and ensures you are maintaining regular research for it and progressing. You have full guidance and support for your dissertation which is a very daunting piece of writing with relieves the stress. Third year we have 2 days off which gives us time for essays, dissertation, postgraduate applications and work. We are face to face but in some circumstances if you need to have an online lecture you can ask for it to be on teams also which is really good if needed desperately when you will miss a topic you need for a lecture for example.
Despite it being a 20 minute walk from Francis close hall and 25 from shops, this is the best accommodation. The campus has 24/7 security and has excellent maintenance. Any problems ring or get in contact and they will be on it straight away. You can pick people you want to live with and they will most definitely try and get you all together. The facilities are of good standard and the enhanced en-suite large and studios are of great size. Worth the extra money compared to other rooms and accommodation. The WiFi is great, included in the price is some great equipment too. There is a corner shop 2 minutes away also that is good for emergency food/drinks/last min items. The staff are great also, the advisors constantly check in to make sure you’re settled and okay.
