This Fine Art course teaches students how to manipulate paint, drawing and printmaking in small workshops of no more than 18 students; studying traditional subject matter such as still-life and figure painting. Students attend workshops in the first year, learning through experimentation in a fun and inclusive teaching environment. All students learn and develop representational drawing skills through close observation of real life. This is given equal significance to conceptual approaches to making contemporary fine art.Individual approaches are supported by lecturers whose own practices include: painting, drawing, printmaking, installation, site-specific art and cross-disciplinary fine art. All strands embrace the expansive field of fine art practice to enable specialisation and to address individual preferences. You can engage with the possibility of working across boundaries and technologies to pursue your personal interests and skills. Dialogue is encouraged between departments, offering opportunities for collaboration and exciting interaction.
