Stunning location, no other university in the UK like it, close knit community and interesting culture/ place to live Sometimes the wellbeing aspect seems performative with little support for people who are struggling mentally (which I suspect is due. to lack of funding and not the university's fault) Student bar on campus is almost non existent as most students move into Falmouth in second year, not Penryn, and the prices on campus for food and drink aren't subsidised like they are for a lot of other universities.
Interesting content and delivery, really good field trips, small course with a lot of contact from course leaders and lecturers. Hours can be intense as the course is accelerated.
Location close to buses and right next to train station, security in the reception, never felt unsafe.
I love the more isolated and peaceful feel of Falmouth but can be annoying with less shops and delivery places and the uni I love especially all the group work which is really fun and engaging
Love my course and my teachers. I’m learning so much and love that they do group projects and have a warehouse studio to really show what the game industry is like
I like the loacation being in Falmouth and near transport to get to uni but I feel for the price I’m paying maritime just isn’t all what it can or should be.
It has alot of different options and a very good facility for any type of person. They actively try to help you with any learning difficulties and they have a 24/7 library ready to use with study spaces inside but i feel like they could improve the timetable
The online lessons can be quite challenging if you have to run from lesson to lesson due to timetabling issues but in person lessons can help if you have any issues with software or get stuck
I did have to change rooms due to issues but when i moved into my new room i loved the double bed with a good shower and good enough space the kitchen is fairly new with a few quirks here and there with a good oven and a microwave with a toaster they all work kinda. They are quite cheap with flaws but you can get around it e.g. the toaster doesnt have an off button so you have to turn it off at the wall.
Great friendly atmosphere on campus and during classes, the support can be limited on such a big course so it would be nice to have smaller classes. There are facilities available 24/7 through the library that are very useful!
Online lessons are essentially obsolete alongside in person workshops, consistently repeating content in an unproductive and time-consuming way for both lecturers and students.
I’ve had multiple issues with maintenance and heating problems that aren’t being resolved quickly at all. I am in a shared room which saves money, but since there are two shared rooms in my flat there is not enough space in the kitchen for all of us. There’s also no TV provided as said on the website.
Best - it’s in a great location and the teaching, support and facilities are amazing, I’ve made a lot of friends as everyone is very artsy and friendly and the university has a lot of good opportunities both academically and outside of the courses. Improvements - I think the student support would need to be more accessible and communicative as they can sometimes delay a lot of things like finding people support workers and getting back to people. Also, the on campus cafes and shops could be a little cheaper as they aren’t really the most affordable especially for students.
Best - resources and facilities available to use, the learning is excellent with lecturers giving a unique approach to teaching and there’s a lot that’s interesting and original about the modules and course content. And everything is in person which makes it a lot easier to understand and interact with our lecturers. Worst - there’s not really anything bad about my course :)
Best - making friends and being so close to town amenities and campus and the management was very understanding and friendly. Worst - when there were issues in the flat, they weren’t really properly sorted even when they were reported and the people I shared a flat with weren’t always respectful towards communal areas or loudness and basic mannerisms. The walls were quite thing so you could also hear people outside and the security within the accommodation wasn’t great as people next to our block would break out in fights and it just wasn’t the safest area.
Best part is the campus worst part is the pricing of the campus shops and cafe
Most is good but course is not always transparent about further learning
The Wi-Fi is really bad but everything else is good
Lovely school with a nice atmosphere
Engaging course good for people who have little pervious experience
Really nice rooms
Lovely place and people
Course content can be quite irrelevant
