Bath Spa is so wonderful, I feel so welcome and relaxed, have meet some incredible people and really enjoying my graphic design degree course.
Great tutors who are fun to be around and make each subject topic engaging and exciting
Fantastic location, clean and large en-suite room with breath taking views of the countryside. Safe and fun environment to live
Nice place with nice teachers
The online classes are very good structured and also in campus the teachers explain everything good and make us to understand the Business and Management easily!
Is in the centre of London and the location is very beautiful
Nice and secured place
There is a nice relaxed atmosphere at the uni and the setting is beautiful. The university itself has been unsupportive and unresponsive to mental health needs and there is a definite lack of support here. I really don't like how the Newton St Loe campus has more grounds than they know what to do with so they decided to put hundreds of parking spaces that are always empty - too many than is needed and charge everyone to be there!! Simply profiteering..ridiculous and greedy. Would understand if space was at a premium, just out to make money off their students and visitors.
Overall the course has been satisfactory although there has been lack of tutor support at times with one in particular having a bad attitude and they forget that we are paying their wages instead being rude and arrogant! The university need to keep training their staff. Facilities are good but there was no support for a friend after a serious incident was reported to welfare. The university need to realise that that the emotional well being of people this age is just as important as quality of teaching.
Location and facilities are really good and appealing for the university. Locksbrook campus is too open and has No space for studying. Too hard to focus due to noisey echo of campus and lack Of chairs for people. Looks good though
Horrendous. Course lacks in every aspect. No actual space for students just a table upstairs not enclosed and have to find chairs to use. Had to get a teacher removed from the course due to how useless they were and awful attitude towards students. Complete lack of communication about work criteria. always left in the dark And confused and stressed. Teacher treated you like a burden when you ask questions. (New teacher brought in who is way better but far too late for us to turn our work around in final year. Final year we were given access to tutors however they do not read your work and just talk at you for 10 minutes once a week. Harsh and subjective marking which you are not allowed to get remarked. Few completely lied to, abandoned and left with it a care for my outcome in the course or my mental health. Would not recommend to anyone who wants to keep their passion for a subject. Multiple students have mentioned they do not care anymore and want to give up and will accept an average grade at this point due to putting hours of effort in for below average grades. Second year was in lockdown. Completely abandoned again and got one online lesson a week again just being talked at. We are paying 9K a year for this. PLEASE go elsewhere
The uni has a good students union and facilities, there aren’t a great amount of societies but the location is great with some nice views of the countryside.
As this is a new course some software is not accessible even half way through the module. This is required to complete our unit. There are plenty of laptops and desktop computers for use by students.
Beautiful clean city with nice views and unique architecture. Accessible train and bus links. Not far from Bristol where there are plenty of computing jobs.
The campus is absolutely gorgeous! A wonderful mix of old and new, castles and modern buildings. Reserving rooms encourages students to get out of their rooms and study anywhere on campus, from the top of the castle tower, to the communal "pods" at Commons. The Student Union building has a bar and a small shop, and activities going on almost every day. Karaoke every other Saturday is one of my favourites. Close enough to the city of Bath for easy access, while still having the feeling of a university town. Lots of student discounts and student bars/clubs in town, as the University of Bath is also nearby. Interesting classes, lovely lecturers and guest lecturers, and proper assessments. Few, if not none, tests, allowing for those who do not thrive with simple memorization to show off how they learn. The diversity of students encourages the broadening of your own world view. A wide range of courses, allowing for study into incredibly specific topics. The main issue with the university is the wait time for wellbeing appointments, as it can take up to four months to even get a foot in the door. This means that if you do need help, it is very difficult to achieve. Also, while it isn't the university's fault, it is important to know that the First Bus system is not very reliable, so if you have a job in town, it is quite nerve-wracking.
This year, as we are slowly coming out of Covid, the classes are mixed: half online and half in-person. Each week, we have one lecture which is hosted online, either live or pre-recorded, and one seminar, where lecturers review what was taught during the lecture and we have the chance for peer review of our work. As a Creative Writing student, I throughly enjoy the lessons and topics we cover, from making up magical worlds to properly representing history. The tutors are usually reachable, but only through email. The students are divided into groups of four to six, and given a personal tutor who can help with a variety of things, from proofreading to general questions about the university. I have not used this yet, but I know those who have and have found this helpful.
I talked a bit about the city in my overall review of the university, but Bath is genuinely a wonderful town. Historic and gorgeous, with plenty of food and grocery options. Lots of fun things to do, from dozens of lovely cafes to multiple escape rooms. Bars, clubs, and pubs are dotted throughout. Lots of job opportunities but also lots of people looking for jobs. It took me a few months to find the job I currently have. The First Bus system is not great, but the drivers are usually friendly and accommodating. A little expensive, but affordable enough for university students. Most of the city is very safe, with a few subsections that are somewhat sketchy.
I live in the newer accommodations built on campus, where each room has an ensuite, which I adore. It is a tad pricey but worth it. The university campus is divided in two, Lakeside and Gardens, where I am. While Gardens has the Student Union and the postoffice, Lakeside is far closer to the main teaching building and the beginning of campus. From my experience, it has been very safe, and I feel comfortable walking around campus at night. The internet and wifi is spotty, but when it works, is quick. I share a kitchen with nine other students, which is professionally cleaned fortnightly. When our stove broke earlier this year, it took less than a day for a replacement to arrive.
Loud people in halls
Best -it’s fun and engaging Worst - maths
The location and the campus itself is beautiful but the student support is still lacking slightly. I think covid has delayed some improvements in the terms of teaching but a good uni overall.
Good access to content and equipment, and tutors and all friendly and helpful.
Best is the city is beautiful Worst nightlife
Blended learning has been terrible and hard to navigate
Terrible internet and facilities
Bath Spa University is a great place for students with a learning disability. I have a disability called an Auditory Processing Disorder, where my ears and brain do not fully coordinate with each other. Because of it, I have had people walk away from me due to miscommunications. But with my professors and classmates, they are very understanding and patient with me. I was given a hearing amplifier, which allowed me to process the teacher’s words, including my peers. The only issue I would have with the school is the dorm life. There can be a bit of noise in the residence hall, but that can be taken care of by speaking with the accommodation team. Overall, Bath Spa University is the best environment for students with a learning disability. I enjoy my classes and being able to interact with others.
The courses I’m taking at Bath Spa University is both online and in-person. I believe the software we use and the communication between professors and students is great. I have one hour lectures online that are recorded, so I can look back at it later with subtitles. If I have any questions, I can email my teacher and get a quick response. Those are all the pros. The only con I have is the lack of jobs in my fields, which is writing and film. The university has a job service that helps students find employment, but I was not able to find jobs that can help my career.
