Good community, the campus feels like an open positive space to work in. The uni provides lots of great opportunities with industry work both during and after the course. Expectations are very high on my course, the expected workload is a lot and there’s not much recognition or help on how this effects peoples mental health.
Had a lot of experience with live briefs so know what it’ll be like working with clients after university. However I feel that we haven’t been taught the basics of graphic design like technical things we’ll need to know when working in the industry. It’s very much focused on thinking innovatively which is useful but there are lots of other vital skills I’ll have to teach myself.
Friendly staff and very good location- could be slightly closer to uni but is close with all the other acclimations, town and a main supermarket which was great. The majority of the time when workers needed to check or fix something in your flat you would not be notified- I’ve known a number of people who have had workmen let themselves into their room without being told or even knocking.
The campus has a homely and friendly feel. Everyone is so kind and the access to all facilities is fantastic. The university overall offers a lot of support educationally and mentally. Would highly recommend studying at this university from experience
Best parts - Access to equipment and variety of equipment available to photography students - lots of support from lecturers in group sessions and 1-1 sessions Worst parts - how the tech desk for equipment is run, sometimes your item isn’t available when it was booked out (and said it would be available that day)
Lovely building overall. Very expensive halls for students who don’t get the full maintenance loan. Location is based around an area that feels unsafe at night. The nearby roads have lots of dodgy and scary people as well as the Asda car park next door. The halls offers a lovely cinema room and gym which is a bonus as well as the study room and main lobby room

I have loved every minute of the course at AUB. Textiles is a very well run course, with a very clear focus on gaining industry links straight away before leaving university. I have gained a lot of creative confidence through the supportive environment the course leader, tutors and techs have provided, and feel confident leaving university in applying to jobs. AUB as a whole is in a little bit of an awkward area, but the campus is very welcoming and I believe everyone can find a group of friends no matter what you are interested in.
Mostly the course is back to normal. I very much thrive from being in university as much as possible and gaining a good work/life balance, and I believe the course is set up well for that should you wish to do it Weekly contact with tutors for design units for the majority of the year with in person tech sessions and guest speaker program
I love the location of the university, the facilities, and the community. I always enjoy going to university, whether that be a workshop or lecture. So far, I have nothing to say that could be improved about it.
So far, the course has demonstrated a range of content and allowed me to experiment with photography. I think there is great support as well for my ideas. I only marked a one star for the placement and internships because nothing has been offered yet.
The location being by the beach. Also, the use of pavilion dance's studios and facilities and the studios and equipment in the dance studios. That and a personal experience where you know the teachers and they know you.
You get to learn a range of things from experience in placements, your own research and class content. The facilities are great, can feel a bit cramped depending on how many are in your class at uni. The teachers give time for individual feedback throughout your learning.
The best thing is that its an art uni everyone is in the same vibe, and very arty. You can meet cool people in the art industry doing other course. Worst part is that aub start taking too many student without more staff supporting, according to 2023 THE status, it is 14.1 student per person. Where this year my course have around 130 person and splited in to 2 groups, then every workshop there will be 2 to 3 tutors. It happens in other course too. Also, it is a small uni where it doesn't have a lot of clubs but its quiet.
Idea base, workshops is too focus on the creative ideas generation, not much about skill level.
The best thing is it is near to town center and very close to the bus stop, 5 min walk. Worst things is it is exactly next to primer inn and a office building which from my room I can see people working on the computer. The is no such things as view as all I see is the office and the meeting room in front of my window.
Campus is fun and colorful. Its open and bright making it a great space for learning. However, due to still living at home, a big aspect they could improve would be having parking facilities for the students traveling to uni.
There is a good mixture of onsite learning and online time. Where in-class time is spent with tutors and more personal to the specific subject areas and the larger lectures involving all subjects are held online.
