Typically, entry onto an ARU undergraduate degree course requires a minimum of two A level and three GSCEs in other subjects, although each subject has a specific set of criteria, and offers are frequently expressed in terms of UCAS tariff points.

ARU provides an excellent standard of facilities and services across all three of its campuses. Libraries in Cambridge and Chelmsford stay open 24 hours, six days a week during semester time with self-service and online resources sharing between campus locations.
The Cambridge campus includes a TV studio and editing suites with professional equipment loan facilities, a theatre and art gallery as well as a mock law court, and mock hospital wards.
The Chelmsford campus has specialist workshops for architectural technology design, engineering and building surveying and is home to ARU’s Bloomberg Financial Markets lab with 16 terminals.

ARU is committed to providing a superb standard of student services to help all students realise their potential academically and personally. The university has a variety of specialist teams within it to offer year-round support, both on-campus and online.
The university has a free and fully confidential counselling service, and support and advice is also offered for finance and careers concerns.
There is a dedicated Disability and Dyslexia Support team providing specialised services for students with physical disabilities, mental health issues, ongoing medical conditions and learning difficulties such as dyslexia. They also provide guidance on reasonable adjustments and allowance applications.
The Study Skills Plus scheme helps students develop research, exam and time management skills and is available as group workshops or booked as one-to-one sessions.

ARU traces its origins back to the Cambridge School of Art, which now combines tradition with the latest technology, industry-standard equipment, and options to study and work abroad.
Business & Law
The Faculty of Business and Law is a dynamic, innovative learning environment. Courses cover a wide range of disciplines and many offer a placement year.
The Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab in Chelmsford gives students access to the portfolio manager facility. The award-winning Law Clinics at the Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses offer free, face-to-face legal advice.

From architecture to engineering and psychology to optometry many of this faculty’s courses are accredited by professional bodies and are taught in cutting-edge facilities.
Health and Medical Science
ARU is the largest health educator and provider of courses in nursing, midwifery and social care in the region and has secured a reputation for academic excellence.
The Anglia Ruskin Students’ Union (ARSU) is a student-run organisation, which is active across all three campuses. It is organised by an elected committee who represent the student community and co-ordinates a yearly timetable of services and events.
The SU runs online and in-person events providing something to suit all tastes. It’s responsible for overseeing the range of clubs and societies that are on offer at the university, as well as assisting students who may want to set up their own society.
There’s plenty of opportunities for students to get involved with the running of the ARSU, or with volunteering opportunities. They can help with campaigns, vote in elections, put themselves forward for a role, organise events, and much more.
Clubs and societies are a great way for new students to try something new, and meet people from outside their degree course. A wide variety of interests are covered at ARU, from the Alpine Society (lots of hiking), to the Law Society, Cheerleading, Mindful Midwifery, Pokémon and a Doctor Who Society.
ARU has sports teams and on-campus gyms, including a new gym in Chelmsford called The Factory. There are over 24 different sports clubs including football, basketball, rugby and hockey as well as rowing and ultimate Frisbee. Sports scholarships are available.
Student reviewers enjoy life in historic Cambridge, one of the UK’s best-known student cities. Despite a slightly higher cost of living, there are plenty of student-friendly options with a lively nightlife scene, restaurants and shopping. Chelmsford became a city in 2012 and is developing rapidly as a result, with a new riverfront shopping, cinema and restaurant complex opening recently. It’s also a 30-minute direct train ride to central London, so students can access all that the capital city has to offer too.
Peterborough has two large shopping centres, plenty of restaurants, clubs and bars, as well as leisure facilities such as an ice rink and bowling alley. Peterborough is also well connected to London - only a 50-minute direct train ride away.

A dedicated team can help students to source part-time, flexible work that fits in with their studies, and students can also receive guidance to source and apply for placements.
The university is leading the way with degree apprenticeships, a work-based alternative route to gaining a degree. Students can gain work experience and a degree at the same time and have no tuition fees if they study through this route.

ARU offers a number of scholarships and bursaries for UK, EU and international students.
ARU Bursary
If a student’s household income is GBP 42,875 or less and they are a UK or EU student studying a full or part-time undergraduate or integrated master’s degree on the Cambridge, Chelmsford or Peterborough campuses, they will be eligible to receive up to GBP 300 per year.
Applicants will need to share their household income details when applying for student finance.
Merit Scholarship
Open to all UK undergraduates (and eligible EU/EEA student) taking exams in summer 2022, and expecting BBB grades or above. This grant is worth GBP 1000, and is automatically awarded if students meet eligibility criteria.
Sports Scholarship
Talented student athletes can apply for a scholarship award ranging between GBP 1,400 and GBP 12,500 per year, with tailored added benefits to help athletic development.

With a degree in a subject you love, you'll find more doors opening to jobs you'll love. Studies have also shown that graduates earn more on average compared to non-graduates.
If you want to continue to pursue education, you'll be able to progress to postgraduate study once you've got your undergraduate degree. You could opt to study a master's, or even get a PhD.
Living in uni halls means you'll have access to communal areas including kitchen and dining facilities. These facilities offer you plenty of opportunity to socialise with the students you're living with.
