VISIT WEBSITELondon Met offers a high-quality education across its portfolio of courses, but some specific strengths include:
London Met has a thriving and popular students’ union that serves as the hub for student life on campus.
It provides a number of support services to students including academic support. Any students having a problem with their course can seek independent and helpful advice to guide them, with the SU available to fight a student’s corner if necessary.
The SU is also home to the university’s wide range of clubs and societies, where students can meet new friends with similar interests, engage in new hobbies or just keep fit. When it comes to being social, the SU excels in putting on a wide range of social events to suit all different interests.
The London Met SU has its own media channels too, which serve both to keep students entertained and engaged in what’s happening on campus but also provide opportunities to budding journalists and radio presenters.
The primary role of the SU is to represent students, and so any student who feels they are being overlooked or mistreated in any way can seek help, guidance and backing from the support teams that the SU runs.
There’s a society for everyone at London Met and if students can’t find one they love, they have the freedom to set up their own.
Some of the societies that students can get involved with include the Events Society, the LGBTQIA+ Society or the Physics and Astronomy Society.
Any students that consider themselves an aspiring journalist, graphic designer, DJ or technical assistant can also join the university’s student-led Verve Magazine or Verve Radio station.
Into fitness? London Met recently introduced the option for all students to enjoy a free gym membership, including fitness classes. The university also has a wide range of clubs that are themed around sports, including football, basketball and cheerleading. Students who sign up for these clubs may find themselves representing London Met in inter-university competitions.
The university also has an on-site bar at its Holloway campus and a rooftop that’s, rather uniquely, home to 40,000 bees.
London Met’s Aldgate campus is right round the corner from Shoreditch, famous for its restaurants and food, street style and nightlife. And the university’s Holloway campus is in the middle of Islington, next to the Emirates Stadium (Arsenal Football Club’s stadium) and a short walk away from Finsbury Park.
This means that students have the opportunity to see not just the tourist side of the capital – although there is ample opportunity to do that too – but also the real heart of the city, which is home to many thriving communities and an exciting lifestyle.
As the capital of the UK, London is home to an incredible wealth of restaurants, theatres, bars, museums and fun attractions too. Students could do something different every weekend and still have more to discover once their course was complete. There really is something for everyone.
London Metropolitan University students on Whatuni say:

To support students financially during their time studying at London Met, a number of bursaries and scholarships are available that can provide students with grants or loans to ensure their focus is on their learning and not on how to afford their education.
Some of these scholarships are awarded to students from specific backgrounds, while others are merit-based, awarded to students who can demonstrate evidence of their drive to succeed and talent for their chosen course.
All scholarships and bursaries are available to browse on the London Met website which is also where students can begin their application. Students are advised to apply early as competition for funding is expected. The full information on requirements for each bursary or scholarship is also available, meaning students can quickly identify which are the most suitable options for them.
The tuition fees for UK and EU students on an undergraduate course at London Met are typically £9,250 per year, although they can vary. The costs for international students are usually higher, with full information available on the London Met website.
In most cases, students are not expected to pay these fees upfront themselves. UK students can apply for a tuition fee loan to cover the cost, which becomes repayable only once the student has reached a certain salary threshold in future. International students have their own financial aid options and can also spread the cost of fees across the year if necessary.
The university has its own financial support team that is able to advise any students concerned about affording their education to ensure that they are not missing out on any funding options to help them.
Send a message directly to the uni to learn more about their scholarships and bursaries.
