De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) is a leading UK institution with a focus on diversity and careers. DMU’s strategy to become ‘The Empowering University’ aims to create opportunities to empower students, staff and the wider community to create a fairer and more sustainable society that transforms lives.
The university’s ‘Education 2030’ programme reflects how it believes education should look in the next 10 years and beyond. A simplified timetable and the support of a core learning community helps make learning student-centred and gives students more time to follow their passions both inside and outside the classroom.
The DMU campus is in the heart of Leicester and prioritises sustainability and inclusivity to create a friendly and supportive environment where students can thrive. Students get the best of both worlds - a compact, safe and accessible space to live and learn combined with access to nightlife, shopping, accommodation and everything else the city has to offer, right on their doorstep.
DMU’s courses are designed to equip students with the skills they need to enter today’s competitive job market. Students have access to tailored career support and can benefit from guaranteed work experience opportunities through the careers team.
Leicester is also home to employers such as IBM, PepsiCo, Caterpillar UK, E.ON, Joules, Europcar Group and Mattioli Woods. In addition, DMU has ranked in the top 10 British universities with the most student and graduate start-ups in the latest HESA rankings.

DMU offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, distributed across its four academic faculties:
Education 2030 is the university’s new, student-centred approach to teaching and learning. For most courses, students will study one module at a time instead of several at once, allowing them to focus on each topic in depth, receive personalised feedback, and form a close sense of community as they study with the same course-mates and tutors.
At DMU, course facilities play a major role in helping students put their skills into practice, using the same technology and equipment they can expect to use in their careers. From laboratories and art studios to seminar and lecture rooms, the university offers modern facilities to prepare students for the working world.
Students on creative courses benefit from industry-standard workshops supported by helpful technicians and specialised studio spaces. They can bring their ideas to life with multi-million-pound TV and media studios, performance spaces, 3D print technology and state-of-the-art flight simulators.
To gain experience of real work environments, the university offers a mock courtroom, trading room, crime scene house and midwifery ward facilities, among others.
De Montfort University on Whatuni say:
“The course is a perfect blend of online and offline courses. You get one on one time with teachers in seminar lectures or after the lecture is over.”
