A disability service is available to discuss and meet individual needs, while a student finance officer is on hand to help students with any money related issues. A counselling service, run by fully qualified, accredited counsellors is there if students need someone to talk to about any personal issues they may be facing whilst at the university. The Students’ Union at Plymouth Marjon exists for a number of reasons. It is primarily an organisation that ensures all students are represented equally and fairly, offering advice to anyone who feels they are struggling with their course for a personal, academic or other reason.
The SU is staffed by three permanent members and a number of part-time volunteers. These positions are filled during student elections, ensuring students have a say in the people representing them and their needs. The SU is independent from the university and will act as a representative of students if they need to dispute something with the university or on any other matters.
The Students’ Union also organises various social events throughout the year, and runs the clubs and societies at the university, ensuring students have ample opportunity to unwind and meet new friends.
Students are encouraged to take a look at the wide range of clubs and societies offered by Plymouth Marjon’s Students’ Union. These give students the opportunity to meet new people and make friends, and also unwind – downtime is an essential part of a healthy student lifestyle.

Starting a society not only helps students to find like-minded people to connect with, but also looks great on a CV when applying for jobs in the future.

The University Hardship Fund (UHF)
Students who are struggling financially can apply to this fund for some extra help. The amount of money offered to students through this fund will vary depending on the personal circumstances of the applicant.
While fees can vary depending on the type of course studied and a student’s personal circumstances, the normal fees that apply are £9,250 per year for undergraduate and foundation degrees for UK-based students, and £12,500 per year for non-UK students.
Foundation degrees with work-based routes cost a little less, at £6,000 per year for UK students (they are not available to international applicants).
Students in the UK are able to apply for financial help in the form of a tuition fee loan. This loan covers the entirety of the tuition fees, subject to eligibility, and is only repayable once the student has reached a minimum salary level.
Any students who want to avoid the loan route and wish to pay off their fees during their course are also able to arrange a payment plan so that they can pay instalments at various points throughout the academic year.
