It has such a wonderful cosy feel and you never feel like you're just a number in a machine, the lecturers really care about you and want you to succeed. It needs better support to other departments, and it's need to reinforce that community feeling
The past two years I've had some of the best teachers I've ever known, always happy to help and putting in so much work to ensure the students do really well. The department really needs to enforce that quality of teaching and maintain that willingness to help students.
It's definitely improving in terms of student facilities and days out, and it's relatively easy to navigate because it's so small. However, it has bad transport links, isn't the safest, and is really cut off from the rest of the country. It's really hard to get a job because a lot of places can't afford to employ more people and aren't willing to employ students.
Great accommodation when I stayed, lots of room and the maintenance staff were absolutely amazing - some days I could email them and they would turn up within half an hour to sort it out. Quiet accommodation, and small flat blocks so you're not overwhelmed with people. Literally on campus and a two minute walk to most lectures so it was amazing for my first year.
Excellent support from all my tutors. The library is fantastic and library staff are really knowledgeable. CELT staff have helped me in my academic writing and with my powerpoint poster presentation. More social get togethers and social events for mature students like myself would be beneficial.
My course is all taught face to face which really suits me. There is tge option to attend lectures via Teams if you can't attend a lecture. It is easy to contact all my tutors and arrange regular tutorials.
Loved doing my MA here and decided to stay on to do a PhD. I will be here for the next 4 to 7 years! I have had the best supervisor and will continue to receive her support for the next few years. We also have a dedicated research centre for doctoral students. It’s a privilege to be at BGU.
I’m at the very beginning of my PhD and will receive support even though it is mostly self-directed. Very excited to work on my PhD.
At BGU it’s a family. Student support is outstanding. My course is engaging and really interesting. The tutors are supportive and you genuinely feel they care. I transferred from another University and I am so glad I did.
Blended learning. Support is first class
The energy and feel that the lecturers give off are brilliant. It feels inclusive and everyone is friendly. There is a great support system between the lecturers and nothing is ever too much for them. They go above and beyond to ensure student satisfaction and success.
It’s only one day per week which is good. However it is still a full time course, which is crammed into that one day and it is a requirement to work/volunteer for 12 hours minimum.
The student support is excellent, there is always someone available to assist no matter what the issue. Communication is excellent, emails are usually responded to within a couple of hours. The community feel gives a relaxed and unhurried approach to study. With amazing food options every day on campus at great prices you will not go without.
The tutors are excellent. Every one of them are available to assist you in anyway, should you just reach out and ask. During my foundation year I had some personal issues that put me behind. My tutor was very helpful offering support to help me catch up and get back on track.
It is a small University, great tutors always understanding.
Not had my placement yet, however, tutors are great interesting topics I never thought about.
It’s not in the centre so it's a quiet place, but within walking distance from the buzz.
Small groups so you can get lots of support
Some of basic equipment isn’t included eg. Toaster, but the location is good as it is on campus
The staff are very welcoming and supportive. Student accomodation is perfect and well taken care of. Lectures are well structured and communication of schedules is too notch. As an international student, I have received the kind of support that makes me feel at home. I would recommend Bishop Grosseteste University over and again to anyone who wishes to have a home away from home.
Great care is put into ensuring that students have convenient placements. Course content is rich and lectures are delivered judiciously. However, I recommend a day off for classes as this would give the students sometime to breathe and reduce information overload.
I love the comfort and constant change of beddings. I am least excited about having to pay for laundry.
It is an amazing place to study. The facilities are amazing, the lectures are wonderful and the other students are super friendly
The course is a 50/50 split between education and mathematics. The lectures are amazing and so are the students
The security is amazing. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is amazing
