You may feel you’re too young to think about what your future career might be, but it’s never too early. Our Career Matcher and career profiles can help you decide what subjects to study at your next level of education, whether that’s what to pick for your A-levels or other exams, or what subject to study at uni.

Our Career Matcher suggests careers suitable to you based on what you enjoy (and what you don’t enjoy). Our career profiles then explain the roles in more depth and give you suggestions for the typical qualifications needed to pursue the career of your dreams.

Career Matcher

Our Career Matcher asks you a series of questions to find out what careers would suit you. You'll answer 30 or 60 questions depending on which assessment you pick, responding on a scale of 'strongly agree' to 'strongly disagree'.

Once you’ve completed the assessment (it should only take a few minutes), you’ll be able to log in if you’re not already and get your results. You’ll be shown your results on a radar chart, with your top three traits highlighted and explained. Below the radar chart, you’ll find your top sector matches based on your traits, along with the percentage match. Cool, right?

What’s even cooler is that you’ll then be able to click through to see the specific job roles within that sector and the percentage match for each individual job. These results will be saved to your account so you can come back at any time and check our career profiles to see your percentage match to any of the careers we have on the site.

The Career Matcher is currently a beta version, which means we’re still improving it. We’d love your feedback, so please let us know if something looks wrong – or even if something looks right!

Career profiles

Once you’ve used the Career Matcher, you’ll be able to click through to our career profiles, or you can return to the careers profile pages at any time. When you return to the career profiles, you’ll be able to see the percentage match from the Career Matcher (provided you’ve taken the test before and you’re logged in).

The career profiles are broken down by sectors and we’ve also grouped together industries within those sectors.

Once you’ve found a sector you’re interested in, you can click on the industries below it to see the specific careers. You’ll see an overview of each career plus the average UK salary for the role and your percentage match. Once you’ve found something that stands out to you, you can click the career title to learn more.

On our career profiles, you’ll find a more detailed description of the career and its requirements, information about the job market and importantly, what qualifications you’ll need to help you land the job of your dreams.

Knowing the requirements for the career you want to pursue will help you make the best decisions about your education so you can get to where you want to be. Our career profiles show you recommended subjects to study for each role as well as the level of qualification employers typically look for, making planning ahead a breeze.
