Every year, we get over 35,000 reviews from real uni students, which make up the basis of the Whatuni Student Choice Awards. These awards give students a voice to shout about what’s great at their uni and celebrate these achievements.

For the submission award category this year, we wanted to look at something on every student’s mind – the cost of living crisis. With costs growing for nearly everything, money worries are a huge concern for students across the UK. Many universities have stepped up and offered students support to help alleviate the issues caused by the crisis. Judged by a student panel, this category looked at how the unis identify the specific needs of students during the crisis, the initiatives that have been put in place, how students were involved in the process and more.

This year, the winner for the Whatuni Student Choice Awards submission award winner for cost of living was Buckinghamshire New University

“The students’ union supports students 3 times a week with free meals to help reduce our costs within the cost of living crisis. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, making it comfortable for everyone.“ – Student review on Whatuni

“They provide good facilities for students. They are very cost effective. Bucks also go above and beyond for their students in and out of uni. They provide free weekly meals during the cost of living crisis.” – Student review on Whatuni
