What other funding has been announced for nursing students?

Additional support may be available to cover costs such as childcare, travel and dual accommodation. Students studying mental health nursing, learning disability nursing, radiography (diagnostic and therapeutic), prosthetics and orthotics or orthoptics and podiatry may be eligible for an extra grant of £1000 per year. There's also an Exceptional Support Fund for students facing financial hardship.

Will nursing students still have access to other financial support?

Students will still have to pay tuition fees of £9,250 per year, though they will still have access to tuition and maintenance loans from Student Finance.

If you are undecided about becoming a nursing student, this extra financial help might make the difference.

You’ve still got plenty of time to apply if you do choose to go down the nursing career path. The 2024 UCAS deadline is January 31 at 18:00 UK time, meaning there’s still time to write your personal statement and get your application submitted.
