There are two residential villages at Bangor University: Ffriddoedd and St Mary's, both of which are within walking distance of the majority of the university’s buildings and the city centre. All accommodation is self-catered and rent includes all bills and utilities. Both villages have on-site security, available 24-hours a day. First year students who register Bangor University as their first choice by the given deadline are guaranteed a place in university accommodation.

Bangor is one of the UK’s smallest cities with a population of only 14,000 and is consistently rated as one of the most affordable places to study in the UK. However, students will discover that there are plenty of things to do in this this historic city. There is a rich landscape of mountains, beaches, and beautiful Welsh villages within a short journey of the city, giving adventurous students many opportunities to explore the countryside around the university.

BOOK OPEN DAYBangor University runs a dedicated Skills and Employability Service, which provides workshops, online resources and advice to help students prepare for their future career. All undergraduates can take part in the Bangor Employability Award, which awards accreditation for both coursework and extra-curricular activities such as volunteering or work experience.
Many of Bangor’s courses offer work placements to undergraduate students, who can choose either a two-week work placement in Year 2 or a voluntary work placement year, taken between Years 2 and 3 of their degree.
Most undergraduate students are also offered the opportunity to study abroad for either a semester, a short period over the summer or, in many cases, a full year. After successfully completing a year abroad, students can add ‘with International Experience’ to the award title of their degree.
Bangor University enjoys a high graduate employment rate with 93% of its graduates employed or in full-time education within six months of completing their course.

Bangor Bursary
Students receiving the Bangor Bursary from the UK (excluding Wales) can receive up to £3,000 in extra financial support, over the duration of a three-year degree course.
Start-up Bursary
A start-up bursary of £1,000 is available for those coming to university from care or former Foyer residents.
£3,000 is available to students who excel in the University's annual Entrance Scholarships examinations. Students can sit an exam in a subject of their choice from the current subject list.
Sports Scholarship
£3,000 is available for those displaying excellence in a chosen sport, or with the potential to do so.
International Merit Scholarship
All self-funding international students will be considered for a scholarship of up to £2,000 per year, and all outstanding international students will receive a scholarship of £4,000 per year.
All Bangor applicants are automatically considered for scholarships.
