poor support from tutors if you’re struggling, poor communication between tutors and conflicting feedback on work,
Overall a very poor post graduate experience. Very lazy teaching methods, essentially teaching yourself, poor communication, poor guidance, poor quality of resources. I was advised to to do this programme by previous students, however opted to do it due to the flexibility offered. If your after a budget “tick in the box” course this is it.
Online which is a bonus, but virtually no learning content offered. All self taught.
The Worst University you will ever want to register. No Support at all. They are so defensive and always want to blame the student for the mistakes. No response when asked for help.
NO SUPPORT AT ALL, I think they need to be assessed as a University itself, A lot of students career can be saved from not registering at this UNI
London campus. Very small, but great to have the accessibility to a campus in central London. Small can be good in the sense there’s not too many people around, always some where to sit and access printers etc.
Great to be in person lectures and in person for placements to gain the experiences practically for teaching,
I started the BA Photography course in 2018 and finished in 2022. I found the modules interesting, and we had a good mix of arts and more commercially orientated guest speakers. The tutors were incredibly helpful and supportive and did their best to provide engaging sessions despite the disruption of covid19 during my studies there. Resources are good with plenty of studio space, a big Mac-based editing room, and a massive dark room (B@W plus colour possible). Technical support is excellent too. Certainly worth considering for an undergraduate-level photography degree.
I liked the fact there seems to be around 20 or fewer students on the course, which does facilitate good tutor contact time. Group critiques of new work were conducted well, there is a good mix of guided (written brief) and more open photo assignments. Coursework feels like a 50:50 workload of practical and written assessments. Topics for essays are generally interesting on art/photography history and theory.
This is the worst teaching establishment I have ever had the misfortune to register with. I am a distance learning student, there is little support and the admin staff forget to register you onto modules. I have had to chase staff to find out when the modules are starting, some staff are disinterested and have no input into the courses, the work was written possibly several years ago, it is on a website for you to complete but you can’t ask questions. It has put me off considering any further learning and has made me wish I had never signed up for the course. Do not consider distance learning with this uni.

Absolutely love studying at the Lancaster campus so far. The course is developed and support is available at any time. Personal feel and the most amazing, knowledgeable and achieved contingency of staff and tutors! I feel like University of Cumbria should be at the top of the list for this degree!!
I enjoy every aspect of the course. There is no reality in which everything is perfect. Some things are flawed because of the global pandemic issue and that applies to everything, but this is something that does not affects the delivery quality of the programme.
its good
its good would prefer it if it was a blended course. With the odd online class.

I have enjoyed my time studying at the university of cumbria! i have been able to not only recieve support accedemically, however through carryign out a substantial amount of time on clinical placement, i have been able to improve my skills practically and make contacts to assist with employment upon graduation.
I feel like my learning has not been disadvantaged due to covid. My tutors have been supportive throughout the pandemic and the mix of online and blended learning which we are currently recieving works well for this course. The only downside is that the tutors are extremely busy during feb to may time and some struggle to reply to emails at all never mind in a timely manner. However i imagine this would be the same for most courses at most universities.
public transport to majour cities such as carlisle to newcastle or carlisle to manchester is good, however public transport from carlisle to west cumbria is poor, and this is what lets public transport down.
