The Eden Project University Centre, part of The Cornwall College Group, offers a wide range of unique and specialist degrees and degree-level apprenticeships, which are taught on-site at the Eden Project’s unique and world-renowned base in mid-Cornwall. This stunning site is home to two biomes: one houses the world’s largest indoor rainforest and the other is home to a breath-taking Mediterranean garden.
Throughout their learning experience, students gain practical hands-on experiences while studying on the grounds of the Eden Project - dubbed by some as the “eighth wonder of the world”. A globally famous visitor attraction and innovative environmental space, courses at Eden Project University Centre are like no other in the world. Cutting edge specialist facilities are complimented by unique opportunities offered at the Eden Project, a leading hub of technological and environmental ingenuity.
In addition to offering specialist honours degrees in horticultural fields such as plant science, garden and landscape design, Eden Project University Centre offers a foundation degree in soil science and horticulture, as well as higher national certificate and diploma in garden and landscape design.
There is a broad range of qualifications on offer, including full three-year honours degrees, two-year foundation degrees and HNDS, as well as one year top-up to honours programmes which are designed to enhance students’ graduate career prospects. There is also an opportunity to study flexibly with full or part-time programmes.
All courses are taught by The Cornwall College Group’s expert academic staff and have been developed in line with the Eden Project’s ethos of making the world a better place. Courses at Eden Project University Centre are awarded in conjunction with Falmouth University, the University of Plymouth, and Anglia Ruskin University.
Full-time students can typically expect to attend lectures, seminars, and classes three or four days a week during term time. Part-time students can expect to have one or two days of in person activities, depending on the modules selected each term.
Students are taught by tutors through a variety of formal lectures, seminar sessions, discussion groups and presentations. Individual and group tutorials take place throughout term time, during which students are offered personalised guidance from academics. Small class sizes at the university centre mean students have ample contact time with the passionate and friendly teaching staff.
A team of highly experienced lecturers and tutors with specialised skills support students throughout their learning experience at Eden Project University Centre. GET PROSPECTUSTo undertake undergraduate BSc (Hons) degrees in either of the horticulture pathways (plant science or garden and landscapes design) offered by Eden Project University Centre, students are generally required to have 80 UCAS points from AS and A-Levels or an equivalent level 3 qualification, such as a BTEC diploma.
For FdSc horticultural degrees, students are required to hold 48 UCAS points from AS and A-Levels or a relevant level 3 qualification. To undertake a FdSc soil science degree, students are required to have 64 UCAS points or a relevant level 3 qualification.
Eden Project University Centre accepts a range of qualifications outside of those stated, including a variety of equivalent international qualifications or HE diplomas. Every application is considered on an individual basis. Applicants with relevant experience, but without the aforementioned qualifications, are also encouraged to apply. ASK A QUESTIONWhile Eden Project University Centre does not offer official halls of residence, it has worked closely with locally respected landlords to establish a network of accommodation options to suit a range of individual needs and requirements. A dedicated accommodation officer is based out of the on-site campus and is on hand throughout the academic year to assist students in locating and settling in accommodation nearby to the campus. All housing options are vetted and approved by the accommodation officer to ensure that housing meets student needs.
Eden Project University Centre offers students studying with them access to a wide range of specialist facilities. These include a dedicated laboratory, brand new nursery and growing facilities, a design studio, a learning centre, training rooms and specialist plant collections.
The gardens and biomes which are at the centre of the Eden Project provide a diverse range of natural habitat environments for students to study and work in on-site. The tropical and Mediterranean biomes house restored wildflower systems and a rare wetland ecosystem, both of which are integrated into the student learning experience.

Students benefit from an open-door policy in which personal and pastoral care is available at any time. Students receive advice from a dedicated financial support team, who signpost any financial aid that may be available to students during the course of their studies.
The university’s higher education learning support team are available to help students with any learning related difficulties they experience during their studies. The learning support team provide support for specific learning difficulties, as well as information on mental health and medical issues. Arrangements and reasonable adjustments can be put in place by the learning support team to ensure students get the most out of their studies at the university.

Numerous clubs and societies are available for students at Eden Project University Centre to join, and are organised by the Cornwall College Students’ Union (CCSU).
The Eden Project boasts world-famous architecture, gardens and exhibitions, and is home to a range of cultural and educational events throughout the year. World renowned artists who have performed at the annual Eden Sessions concert series include Amy Winehouse, Muse, Liam Gallagher, and Elton John.
Cornwall is a stunning county, with some of the best beaches in the UK and miles of breath-taking coastline. All courses are in priority subject areas and many recent graduates from the university centre have begun successful professional careers in the horticulture and ecology industry. Students are encouraged to explore and develop their own subject specific interests while at the university. Undergraduate research projects function as a means for students to develop the transferable skills and knowledge necessary to lay the groundwork for future vocational careers.
The Horticulture, Garden & Landscape Design degree has been specifically developed to help students become competent industry horticulturalists, equipped with professional design capabilities and a well-rounded understanding of the field. The Horticulture, Plant Science degree has been designed to prepare students for careers in the land-based sector, equipping them with the real-world skills to work in applied science, sustainability, and crop production.
Work placements are available as part of many of the courses, and partnerships with commercial enterprises are offered as a means for students to further develop vocational skillsets.
A number of funding and scholarship opportunities are available to Eden Project University Centre students through The Cornwall College Group. Eligible students can apply for financial support via higher education bursaries of £450. Undergraduate students who have either/or a declared disability, a household income of £25,000 per year or below, are a care leaver, or live in a postcode which belongs to an area of low participation in higher education, are all eligible to apply for one of the bursaries.
There is further support available to students in the form of a hardship fund which delivers cash payments to learners experiencing financial difficulty. First year students may also qualify for a bursary of £1,000 to support them with their accommodation costs. Full criteria for eligibility for all bursary opportunities can be found on Cornwall College’s fees and financial support page.
Fees vary on a course-by-course basis. Students starting 3-year honours degrees in 2023/24 can expected to pay £9,250 a year or £27,750 total full-time. For those undertaking 2-year foundation degrees, the course fees are £9,250 a year or £18,500 full-time.

You'll be shocked by the number of clubs and societies on offer at Eden Project University Centre. There's something for everyone! As well as being able to pick different clubs and societies, most courses let you choose modules at different points through your degree.
As well as personalising your course through optional modules, you may have the chance to do a work placement during your studies. Developing your professional skills through work placements is a great way to add to your CV and boost your employability.
If you want a job you love (and who doesn't?), getting a job in a field you're passionate about is a great place to start. By studying a subject you really enjoy, you'll be qualified for a range of jobs relating to that subject, which you'll hopefully love.
For those who aren't ready to give up on education after an undergraduate degree, you'll have the opportunity to progress to postgraduate study such as a master's or even a PhD.
