All facilities have been closed, the gym - although all other gyms in England are open, has been closed without an opening date. Reduced hours to necessary facilities has been implemented and yet the tuition continues to rise relentlessly.

Very poor, the student body/student union do not seem to care much about the actual students and their needs, rather implement the simplest solution to try and shut everyone up.

The course started off with great lecturers and a solid amount of contact time. Unfortunately as the university has grown over the last 4 years their attention to the growth of students has completely dwindled. The online lectures have been terrible, they are unengaged and short. Tutors do not seem to know how to use the software provided and can not effectively teach through this platform. Furthermore, Practical classes, which is the majority of our learning have nearly completely been stopped. The ones that are still running are unorganized and often the essentials are missed.

AECC does have great facilities. It's one of the things that puts them above other chiropractic colleges and I think why a lot of people choose to go there. They have many practical rooms and have updated their benches in the time I've been here. The library has a lovely feel with the stained glass windows and high ceilings and it's simply stunning. It's so relaxing in there. You can expect good facilities that are clean and kept in good nick.

Student services are absolutely brilliant here and the people who run the sessions are so lovely. It's been great to use their services. They're free and I'd definitely recommend making use of them as soon as possible to avoid any issues before they start. Don't worry about what anyone else is doing, it's worthwhile to go to a session just to see what they can offer you as the course is strenuous and trust me, you'll need all the help and support you can get. Be aware though that it can take up to 2 weeks to get an appointment. It's something I feel they could improve on as often in 2 weeks time you're not facing the problem anymore and you could've used the help long ago! You will also need help from your cohort. Try and also find some good people around you from your course who have the same study style as you. My experience has been that most people aren't that forthcoming with this so be brave and ask people for help and support each other in your year group as best you can. There are more people who feel just the same way as you, trust me. In my experience though, don't expect anyone high up in the college to make much allowance for your issues.

I hope you'll understand that this is my personal experience and that my review is my perspective on the years I've been here at AECC. When speaking to my cohort I do find this is the general consensus but as with any opinion it is always subjective. This is everything I wish I had known before I embarked on this journey at AECC. College do give you the information you technically need however in my experience this is laid out and delivered very poorly most of the time. Regrettably, many of the tutors are very difficult to listen to as they're very academically capable but do not make the subject interesting or engaging. The course seemingly focuses a lot on bureaucracy and 'red tape' surrounding what you cannot do or help with and the risks of everything rather than inspiring students by focusing on how much we CAN do and being open minded to the things we haven't potentially discovered about what chiropractic is capable of. It is disappointing to say, but don't expect to have your enthusiasm and excitement about chiropractic nurtured if you come to this college. Most of the time I end up studying from previous student's own materials as the college have seemingly stopped producing study guides for units which makes it impossible to easily search for and find what you're looking for within materials. The way the course is run also means that you learn random bits of information that you never really understand the importance of contextually rather than teaching you year on year, from beginning to end about conditions, their physiological background, their risk factors, what to look for on a physical exam , the different options for treatments etc. Don't expect the main focus to be adjustment technique or lots of time spent doing practical work even though it's what your employer will look for at the end of your college degree. You'll likely spend most of your time at a desk by yourself wondering the relevancy of what you're learning. Also, please be aware that the timetable is different every week. This has got better as the years have gone on as this has been feedback that has been given every year but it does make it difficult to get a job around college or to get into an established routine.

I think that job prospects could definitely be improved at the university. You only get to physically use your skills in the last year of college and I think this is a disadvantage for a number of reasons. It means you forget information really easily as you aren't seeing the conditions or being exposed to the opportunities to link your abstract knowledge to real life. It also means you lose motivation as it's so far away and there's no incentive to be the best you can be at this current moment in time as you're not seeing or using the information at all. This is not a personal flaw as some may believe, rather a well documented phenomenon whereby goals that are too far in the future are not motivating for the present moment, therefore we have to work with it, not against it. If AECC want to produce the best chiropractors, this needs to be re-thought. I also think there is not enough emphasis given to adjustive technique which is what employers will be looking for at the end of the course and really what makes your career successful or not. My colleagues in the years above have mentioned that in order to secure a job you are required to contact clinics yourself and enquire as chiropractic jobs are often not advertised. As far as I'm aware college doesn't facilitate any relationships or opportunities for this however please bear in mind that the cohort above was during the pandemic and therefore things may have been different. The employment rates are extremely high after 6 months after graduation though and everyone I'd spoken to had a job so that is brilliant and employers overall do seem to like students from AECC.

You won't find a night something isn't on! the uni does a great job at offering loads of events and most of these have successfully crossed the zoom call barrier and are going strong! Its a great chance to meet new friends and have some actual social contact!

We are with the rest of the world with online lectures and our teachers have been and continue to help us throughout this difficult time. Through sitting and answering loads of questions and giving us plenty of resources. Teachers are super speedy on replying so pinging them an email and getting a response is great and takes a load of how we are currently learning.

We have the chance to work with our peers and mentors to give us a great step into the working world of our career. There are plenty of guest speakers from all walks of chiropractic, meaning no one is left out.
