A student experience team is based at every campus of Cornwall College, available to help learners in any way that they might need. This could be questions around academic support, including mentoring or where to get help with essay-writing and research. Or it may be financial support, looking at where funds may be available for hardship, or key skills around budgeting.
There are health and wellbeing services too, with the team able to signpost students to any necessary medical or counselling support that may be required. The team can also help with questions around disabilities/access to learning, along with careers support.
Crucially, the team is ready to help students of all ages, no matter their qualification. The team know how to help students on further education, higher education, adult and apprenticeship courses, and can give the tailored advice needed to resolve any problems quickly, allowing the student to fully focus on their work.

VISIT WEBSITEUnlike many larger universities, Cornwall College does not offer a portfolio with hundreds of subjects for study. It has a more focussed offering, and that focus helps to ensure the quality of every qualification is always exceptionally high.
With the college being one of the leading providers of apprenticeships in the UK, the main academic strengths of the institute lie in preparing students for the working world, with practical learning a real focus. This extends into every qualification offered; students will work with the latest resources and enjoy a fantastic balance between theory and hands-on learning.
Each campus within The Cornwall College Group has its unique specialisms and learning environment. Students will benefit from not only the facilities on site but also the surrounding coastline and countryside, which will factor into their learning and give them the advantage of an incredible place to study.
Cornwall College Students’ Union (CCSU) represents students across The Cornwall College Group. Elected officials work hard to make sure that all students have a voice and to hold the college accountable, so that it always offers the best service to its students.
Cornwall College offers courses aimed at all different ages and so does not have the same style of clubs and societies students may find at a university. However, there are some clubs arranged by the Students’ Union (SU), along with other social events that students can join in with throughout the academic year.
The two Cornwall College campuses are all in fantastic locations with easy access to local amenities, including shops, restaurants, bars and live entertainment. Cornwall and nearby Devon are renowned for their stunning coastline and countryside, and students will have ample time to enjoy exploring both. Cornwall, and in particular Newquay, is the country’s premier watersports destination, with plenty of thrills to be had during downtime.

BOOK OPEN DAYStudents at Cornwall College are given all the help possible to prepare them for their future career, whether they are looking to apply for work immediately after graduating or they are looking to move onto another study programme upon completion.
All courses balance theory and practical work, with materials designed in partnership with businesses to ensure that students are getting the skills and knowledge they need to be ready to move onto their next steps.
There’s also a dedicated careers team at the college who are available to give impartial and tailored advice to students. This team works with other education providers and local businesses, and so can offer expert help on what students need to do if they wish to achieve their own career plan. For students who don’t have a plan in mind, the team are on hand to help students figure that out as well.
The team also looks after work experience and industry placements, with students partnered with the right businesses to suit their work.
The college does have some bursary options available to students on a Higher Education qualification. These include the HE bursary, which gives students £450 towards their studies if they are from a low-income household, are a care leaver, or have a declared disability. These bursaries are limited and so not every applicant will be successful.
A bursary to cover partial accommodation costs for the first year of study is also available.
The fees to study at Cornwall College vary depending on each student’s chosen course and its level. Courses aimed at 16-19 year olds often have no associated fees, while apprenticeships even come with paid work included.
University-level degrees do have tuition fees that must be paid each year, although British students are eligible to cover the costs of these fees with a loan that is only repayable once students have reached a certain salary threshold upon graduation, provided they complete their studies.
The college has a team that can discuss any financial concerns that students may have, and signpost them to helpful resources on additional financial support, including where they can find part-time work that fits around study.
