Founded back in 1894, Myerscough College and University Centre has grown to become one of the UK’s largest providers of specialist education and training for land-based and sports industries. It offers undergraduate degrees in over 20 different subject areas, including agriculture, animal studies, equine studies, horticulture, motorsports, and sport. The college and university centre will be celebrating its 130th Anniversary in 2024.
Around 6,000 students are enrolled at the college, around 2,000 of which are part-time students, and around 1,000 of which study for higher education qualifications. The college is an Associate School of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), one of the largest and most dynamic universities in the UK, and Myerscough students can benefit from having access to UCLan’s wide range of student facilities and support.
The college has recently invested £30 million on campus enhancements, including a veterinary nursing centre, the Food and Farming Innovation and Technology Centre, and an animal studies complex - all housing state-of-the-art learning and research facilities. A selection of the college’s courses are offered on a part-time basis and a number of courses are also offered as online/blended learning courses. All courses are delivered by Myerscough’s dedicated teaching staff, and awarded by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
Courses are vocationally based, and students will learn through a variety of methods, including classroom lectures, practical workshops, and visits from industry professionals. The practical nature of most courses provides real-world experience. Assessment will be via a range of different methods, including assignments, report writing, case studies, presentations, and final examinations.

GET PROSPECTUSTypical offers for undergraduate (honours) degrees include a minimum of 104 UCAS tariff points which are achieved by three or more A-Level passes at grade C or above or a BTEC National Diploma, or Level 3 Extended Diploma at DMM.
For foundation degrees, applicants will usually be required to have 48 UCAS tariff points which are achieved by two or more A-Level passes with at least one grade C, a BTEC National Diploma, or Level 3 Extended Diploma at PPP.

The college understands that going off to university is an important transition period in an individual’s life and that each student copes with this new-found freedom and responsibility in different ways.
To help those that may need extra support in adjusting to life at university, Myerscough has put together a wide range of support and welfare services. This includes the inclusive learning team, who are on hand to support students with disabilities and learning difficulties. They can provide students with special equipment, organise exam concessions, provide study skills support, and can assign students with a dedicated inclusive learning tutor or assistant, or even a British sign language communicator.
For those struggling with mental health issues (no matter how slight or severe), the college has trained counsellors onsite who students can talk to in confidence. Myerscough College Scholarship
20 scholarships, worth £1,000 each in cash, are available for applicants who can demonstrate excellence in agriculture and horticulture, STEM subjects, sport, and creative design.
Recipients are expected to act as student ambassadors for their subject at student recruitment events.

As well as personalising your course through optional modules, you may have the chance to do a work placement during your studies. Developing your professional skills through work placements is a great way to add to your CV and boost your employability.
If you want a job you love (and who doesn't?), getting a job in a field you're passionate about is a great place to start. By studying a subject you really enjoy, you'll be qualified for a range of jobs relating to that subject, which you'll hopefully love.
For those who aren't ready to give up on education after an undergraduate degree, you'll have the opportunity to progress to postgraduate study such as a master's or even a PhD.
