Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
It is different from czech universities. The experience here is much richer and I feel, like I am growing already. First I was afraid of not keeping up with the workload, but it is not that heavy.
This uni is very supportive and staff does everything it can, to help you grow !
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
I know only very well the business faculty, so I will talk about it.
The business faculty is very modern building ! It is really clean and the enviroment is gorgeous ! There is so much of useful stuff. Copiers, computers, awesome classes.
Everything looks very modern and it is really pleasing to study there !
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
The teaching portal is really complex and it takes a while to grasp, but everything is there. Northumbria is big uni, afterall !
The personal counselling is possible, but you have to wait at least one or two days, because you need to plan it via the email, which takes a while.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
I think, there is lot of opportunities - everybody can find something own.
I don't get involved yet, because I am trying to keep up with the work I fell asleep on, but soon I will use the students union !
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
There are countless opportunities to have a good time ! Wanna go by a boat ? Go for it ! Wanna surf at the beach ? No problem ! Or do you just want to eat as many chicken wings as you can for 7.5 quid ? Lets roll !
The city life is soaked in liquor at the weekend nights, if you know what I mean ;) The students go to the streets, singing, shouting and having a good time ! It is nothing for me, but it is really funny to watch it !
The downside is, the clubs are crowded and it is really hard to move there.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Clubs and societies are full of friendly people, who don't really care if you are an international student. They offer support and can really cheers you up ! It's really about the people :)
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
I like the practical approach and years of practice, tutors have.
I also love the opportunity of business building support, they offer us.
I don't like very much the big workload, we have, but that is the only way to go, so I don't blame it ;)
How many contact hours per week do you have?
11
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
There are countless voluntary sessions, which help us with employability. (CV building, How to get things done,...)
There are also job fares, where various employers talk to us and offer us some job opportunities..
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
It is fairly far from uni for me - 15 minutes on bike.
In the general I am very happy ! The staff is very supportive and if something breaks, it is fixed really fast. The vicinity is very clean.
There is a quiet enviroment, where I can study and well equipped common area, where I can cook food and do my laundry.
There are often events as well ! Now is the halloween event and we each got free pupkin, which we carve and on the halloween night, there is annoucement of the best one !
In the sake of wellbeing, I chose well. People are nice here and staff prioritizes helping us. The best thing, though, are free condoms ! ;)
