The best part of Uni is the independence, getting to develop my design skills in my own pace and direction. The most challenging part is full independence, balancing student responsibilities with working to support myself financially.

The best aspect about my course is the tutors and the knowledge they share with us passionately and encourage to embrace with each other. The worst aspect is that my year did not get to use a variety of workshops due to Covid.

Coventry University is one of the few university that has a very supportive and helpful lecturer. The facility is remarkable especially for the interiors and architecture community. Wood, ceramic, and other workshop facility are really helpful. Coming from a student with no arts background, Coventry University has a big role in helping me exploring the aesthetics and history of art. On my first year of study, I’ve learned so many things about the base of art. I explored different materials in the making of a maquette such as cardboard, wooden board, and even skewers is good for a structure of the maquette. I also found out that wire can be really helpful in the workshop with one of the lecturers which was very fun because the material is stretched fabric such as the stocking and the structure is wire, creating a beautiful maquette. Within the whole year, I learned a lot, preparing me for the second year & third year study. Moreover, since I study interior, in the class there were many study groups included, helping me with exploring new ideas and mastering different roles/skills in interior architecture project.

With the online learning at first it was hard cause managing the tutorials online with the lecturer isn’t as easy in real life where I could just show the whole sketchbooks, model-making and the whole process of the project. However, the lecturer gives schedule of time slots 1 on 1 for every student to discuss their project, which is very helpful . Furthermore, with the blended learning it is getting better because the it’s giving the lecturer more effective way in leading and instructing thr students with the final major project. Another point to mention, there was a professional development module, learning the best way as possible on how we develop our career in the CV, design portfolios, and website design. Starting from the graphic aspects of the portfolios, the lecturer was giving detailed lecture of what font, and the appropriate design format. What to include in our portfolios and not to include.
