University rating

This university has been amazing experience for me. It's located in the heart of London and Greenwich is a beautiful historic site. It's very diverse, students and lecturers are very friendly and has so many film shoots taken which is proud moment when you are watching one and you are like that's my place.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
Pretty Good with the new building in place for the students. This building includes; Lower Deck which is student Bar and Club on campus, spaces where they can sit with all the facilities provided and other study centers.
You can get a transportation service to go to Avery Hill campus and play different kind of sports and where the accomodation for some students are. They have amazing 4G Football pitches, Hockey, Rugby and more. Also have a student gym in both campuses; Greenwich and Avery.
Library is massive a 4 floor building with tons to sitting places and computers provided. Rooms which students can book and collaborate.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Academic Feedback is great as they are very detailed and can be very one to one. I never went through personal counselling but they do organize a lot oppurtunites where students can. Moreover, specialized people do sit in the student halls with boards where student can just start a talk with them.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
Student Union is fun and have a lot of great activities. We recently had our new building in place known as Dreadnought where we have all the activites, cafe, bar, study rooms and other places specially built for students.
Greenwich Student Union (GSU) has been amazing. They have great diverse team working who have been students who are promoting great cultures and activies. Different Cultured societies includes; Spanish, Indian and more, which includes great parties and culture awareness.
In General GSU Provides Students a voice where they get involved with Student Council, Campaigns, Elections and members representation. Give Students Advices where they provide advice to all our members regarding Health, Housing, Employment, Money, International Students, safety, academic and other issues not covered in the aforementioned. Student Activities such as Encompasses Societies, Sports groups, Give it a Go, Get Active, Awards, Varsity and much more. And Employability and Volunteering which provides great opportunities and support.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
Great, very fast, a lot of transportation, a lot of activites, very diverse, very iconic architecture and a historic city. Although one of the most expensive city to live in but totally worth it.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Good, Loud and fun, get to meet a lot of amazing people and places where you can fully enjoy yourself. Societies are filled with like minded people.
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
Most:
Lectures are taught and then we have tutorials where we get to practise exactly what we have learnt. This helps us see exactly what we are learning.
We are given contact details and we can always send them an email and the lecturers have always been very helpful and responds very quickly.
Least:
All the lectures are not recorded where you can go back and re-watch them.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
9
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
Being an IT (Computer Systems and Networking) student, I can only talk about my faculty (ACH) where I have experienced and are aware of all the events to improve employability of a student.
The university encourages students to do work placement and I am one of the student who has returned to my third year after completing my placement at Royal Museums Greenwich. There used to be constant email notifications, Placement Officier used to go to classes to promote placement and previous placement students holding seminars. While being on placement the university keeps a good eye on the student with Tutor traveling to your workplace and ensuring the student is happy, checking Health & Safety and that they are growing in their field.
The University provides to students to work within certain places such as; IT Labs as a IT Service Desk Analyst, Work as a Student Ambassador and more. These are good ways to develop a student within the university environment where they study, work, gain technical & soft skills while getting paid as a student that's a big plus. I did apply, got interviewed and have scored the job.
Other Career development includes mentorship programme with Oracle and IBM, where big employeers take their talk out and come to university and help student to improve their skills 1 on 1. As I took part in Oracle mentorship, it was amazing as I was taken through a journey and I have taken a trip to the Oracle offices located near Liverpool Street which inspired me even more.
Currently I have signed up for iQ4, a 12 weeks virtual training programme with various big cyber companies such as; Symmantic, Kroll, ISACA and more. This is another amazing programme where we are made a team with different team roles and resolve a case scenario by presenting infront of these employeers while they provide constructive criticism.
In the end, I would say it's been amazing experience for me. Have improved majorly being a keeping it-to-oneself person to a very open, organized and knowing my career direction person.
