The learning facilities are very good. When looking at Universities, I attended an open day at Cambridge, and all the equipment looked very old, whereas all the equipment at USW is quite new. The campus itself also feels quite new, despite not being. Sadly, the student support isn't great. I have had to email the head of engineering with issues quite often, which I wasn't expecting to have to do, and very rarely do I feel that they are trying to resolve the issue. I have only visited the students union once or twice as it is quite small and there is not a lot there, a small pub and a small shop, I suppose its's better than nothing though.

The content we learn about is quite interesting, however, I do feel that a lot of it is irrelevant. There are often announcements for potential placements and internships. I am doing a degree apprenticeship scheme which is offered through the university, which I feel is a really good idea. The quality of lecturers greatly differs, we have some really good lecturers, and some who aren't really that good.

I feel that I can't really comment on the cost of living, as I live at home with my parents, about half an hour away, but I think that Pontypridd must be cheaper than Cardiff. I had to give a low score for safety, as one of our own lecturers was put in prison for sexually assaulting a student at night time in the streets near the university. I would not feel comfortable walking through the area at night time alone. The public transport is pretty good, there is a train station nearby, and a bus stop right outside the university, however it is unsuitable for me as I would have to catch four different buses to get to university. I think the university does not take this into consideration, as there is only a very small carpark, where you often have to queue for a long time, with one car leaving, one car entering, as there are not enough spaces. The university suggests car sharing, or public transport, but these are not practical options for me, so I believe the carparking issue should be given more attention. I think the diversity at the university is quite good, there are a large number of foreign students, from a huge variety of ethnic backgrounds.
