The independence is the biggest change but also the most welcome. The learning could be more interesting but is manageable and rewarding. The social side is brilliant

The university has a multitude of campuses each specialized and equipped for the courses taught there. For example my course is based at thornton science park which has funding and equipment provided by nearby companies for the physical and natural sciences

There are facilities and grants provided to students who need it however they could be more advertised to the students

As with most systems the larger the society the greater the support but all societies get equal representation and opportunities to advertise themselves to possibly interested students to sign up

Being a student of Thornton Science Campus a bus is needed to travel to the campus however this bus is provided and picks up students from the main campus which is a 4 minute walk from my accomodation. The area surrounding the university is a student housing area which has general stores and a plethora of recreational buildings such as pubs and takeaways. As well as this there are offices for accomodation companies.

The university has a large range if sports and societies both competitive and recreational. The university has recently seperated the students union and the athletics union allowing for a great degree of management over the sports and their financial processes. The university allows for students to set up their own clubs and will recieve support should they do so.

The range of topics and modules covered by my course is interesting and has opened my eyes to the range of areas I could go into with the degree. However some lectures can seem monotonous and without interaction, the timing of courseworks lead to a heavy concentration in january which can affect time for notes or other courseworks

Regular emails are sent to students regarding placement opportunities and career skill it is down to the students initiative to follow these opportunities

I have been offered lots of support from staff at the university with regards to my illness and it is very much appreciated. The university is located in a wonderful city and there is plenty going on throughout the week if you enjoy being social.

They are dated but still in good condition

Academic tutors as re excellent and always willing to offer support. Counselling is difficult to get into and you can be waiting for months for a referral, however the staff are wonderful.

I haven't spent much time there but other than the bar and restaurant there doesn't seem to be much going on.

Yes. This does depend on which campus you're studying at but the main campus is very central.

There are plenty to choose from and I would say that there is something for everyone.

Mostly I like how willing staff are to help. They work at an excellent pace and are very friendly. What I like least is that it is sometimes difficult to ask questions on a topic and to get a satisfying answer.

There is a very good careers service who offer short courses and sessions on increasing employability.
