My experience as a student who has never attended university and started studying late in life has been very positive. I enjoy being on campus, where everyone is friendly. Every member of the learning team and additional staff I have interacted with has been wonderful. However, I am disappointed with the lack of engagement for mature students and/or distance learners. Everything is geared towards younger students. Opportunities for recruitment, assistance, etc., are geared towards younger students. I would like to see something for people who are changing careers or older students in general as we are facing different challenges.

While the content of the course is good, I would really like to have the option of completing the course within one year. Furthermore, I would like to see a higher level of engagement with long distance learners. Our blackboard chats are quite quiet, and it can be quite isolating following a course from a distance. The university should provide the option of blending online and on campus instruction, or at least a Zoom option, etc. It may be necessary for participants to interact and exchange ideas during some modules.

University of Leicester is a great place as the city itself is very student friendly. Therefore a student will never feel lonely while attending uol. Moreover, the staff at the School of Business (my department) is really friendly and passionate about teaching. Most staff approach students in a friendly manner, where students feel supported and know they can reach out at anytime. Facilities at the uni are great, it has really modern resources that facilitate learning. The library is great because it offers so many books to students and it's open 24/7. The only downside to the uni is that we don't know our timetable till the very last minute, nor do we know our exam days until a month before which makes it hard to plan stuff or take time off work for them if working alongside uni. Overall though, really enjoyed my experience at Leicester University!

Post covid teaching is only in-class, however lectures are recorded so in case students miss a session they are able to easily access the material. The contact with lecturers is amazing, they often go beyond their office hours to answer students questions and really try their best to be on hand.

I personally didn't like my experience at the uni halls. It was constantly really dirty, I was also very unfortunate with the people who lived there. Instead of making friends there, I ended up really upset with the choice of halls I made. The university didn't facilitate anything for me to feel more supported when I was struggling with the situation. I often felt unsafe as there were students who would come in as if they were on drugs or really heavily drunk and bang on my room's door at night by mistake. Really bad experience actually. Plus one room cost me as much as a 1 bed flat in the Leicester city centre.
