Tell us about your overall university experience so far.

So far, uni has been great. I’ve met new friends and had some great nights out. Although I’ve been through some rough patches as I stress too much about assignments and money. Uni is my home now and I feel like I belong here.

Facilities

How good are your university's facilities?

As the campus is quite far from many facilities, there is an on site gym with a discounted student price. A small cinema and 2 cafes which are great when hanging out with friends. However apart from that there isn’t much else.

Student support

How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).

Personally I’ve not used the uni support yet however I have a friend who has and she says that it’s great, non judgemental and they really help you out. Feedback from work is well structured.

Students' union

What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?

The student union building itself is quite dated, looks like a 1950s school. However the student union do really good events such as a quiz every Sunday, karaoke night and pool tournaments. The representation side is great, my friend was going through tough time and they really helped her out.

Local life

Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?

As the main part of the city is down steep hill it’s about 20/25 minutes to reach. There are no major supermarkets around except a small Co-op at the petrol station. The main supermarkets are 30-40 minutes walk and I usually get a taxi back if I’ve done a big food shop. The area is historic and fairly safe.

Societies and Sports

How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?

Since I have started people have been encouraged to start their own societies so the variety at BG is increasing. I am part of 2 societies, Netball and a study society which enables me to keep fit and also find time for uni work

Lecturers and teaching quality

What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?

My classes are quite small which is great as the teacher gets to know you and you get to know the teacher. However there isn’t much of a variety of teaching yet, maybe it’ll come later on in the course.

How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?

The uni has a graduate attributes scheme which you sign up for. It goes through all the major things you need to be employable and helps to develop it over the 3 years you’re there.
