Excellent university with outstanding facilities and student support. Liverpool is a great city for students and the university campus is in an ideal location in the centre of the city.

Despite the global pandemic, I have really enjoyed my first term at university. I’ve made great new friends and I really enjoy my course! I’m loving the student life and the independence it entails, and even when I got homesick, the student support services available at the university really helped me to feel more at ease and less alone. Teaching has, unfortunately, all been online due to COVID-19 but the way lecturers have adapted to this is fantastic; I feel as though they have made it as easy as humanly possible for students to still continue to engage with the course and topics being covered. Nonetheless it is upsetting how much we are having to pay for what is essentially just a phone call, and our accommodation fees are way too high considering a lot of us haven’t even been here the whole entire year due to coronavirus. I think that, because of limited access to campus and tutors and all of teaching being online, the tuition fees should certainly be lowered.

The Sydney Jones library is huge and an amazing study environment - it has an extensive selection of seating ranging from different levels of noise, e.g social, quiet and silent. There are two wings and both are spacious and wonderful - always clean and tidy and with views over Abercromby Square. Very motivating and refreshing when you’re studying and working hard! The Student Services are relatively easy to access and I’ve been satisfied with the support that they have given me.

My mental health advisor allows me to call him whenever I need to, and he’s always offering me helpful advice or connecting me with therapists to help. There is never a wait to see him, although the waiting lists for therapies linked to the university are very long, making it harder to access professional help. The therapy I did receive, however, was helpful and I’m satisfied with the outcome.

Everything is online, and we have 1 or 2 lectures per module per week, and each module has a tutorial once a week.

As a first year student I don’t feel like there is too much I can say about career prospects and employment opportunities - however, there are always emails being sent out advertising online courses for certain subjects which are related to our course. This is very useful as these are normally completely free of charge with unlimited access for University of Liverpool students, and help to build up your CV.
