Starting university was exciting at first, stepping into an unfamiliar territory and enjoying your independence for the first time was amazing. Especially when you're doing it on your own for the first time (laundry, cooking, grocery shopping etc.) not to mention joining societies, volunteering, getting to know your flatmates (even dating one) and going out for freshers week- or every week was great too. However, there were times when I felt homesick and alone but no one can ever do something about it especially if you're miles from home. In 2nd year, moving in with my friends was great but it made me feel less of a student as I moved further away from the campus... into a private student housing. My overall university experience so far has been great despite of the homesickness and other things, I am glad to experience all the "university stuff" before moving away from the campus. Now im in my last year and I plan to make the most of it.

They have recently removed the only shop in one of their campuses, students from coach lane campus can no longer shop for snacks or anything quick if the cafeteria is busy.

Personal tutors get less involved throughout the time, the counselling helps if you're only worried about something so little- there are only 6 sessions and worse... they lasts for 45 minutes which is not enough for someone who may take a while to open up to a counselor. It's like leaving a jar open without using the contents, this way its more damaging.

There's already people involved.

Pleasant, there is quite a lot to see in Newcastle that would cater for everyone. It's a lively and beautiful city.

The societies can feel good in the beginning, the society socials are a little pointless for those who aren't keen on night out- since every social is a night out. In addition, societies should meet more often to develop that connection between each other, if not you still feel isolated despite being a "member" of a society.

I would like more placements, one that does not just focus in one institution or practice e.g. being sent to schools to instead of working with or shadowing a social worker, a family support worker or any other profession that works with children.

My university introduces talks and lectures about career choices (conducted by northumbria's careers advisor). Emails are sent to us regarding employability- events taking place that may increase our employability or help us decide a career path. From my course, we have been sent into placements to inform us the nature of the course that we are studying, to experience the practice that we were studying.

The course at Northumbria is very good. I have received lots of help and guidance and feel like the support is there if I need it. All tutors are helpful and the lectures/seminars are all useful and contain lots of relevant information.
